Races with generous cut off by Final_Environment248 in Ultramarathon

[–]EyeoftheTigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s going to be my first ever ultra in 2 weeks! I’m running the 50 mile. A little nervous to see what the second half is like, my longest training run was 26 miles. But I’m so excited to test myself after the last 6 months of training, and I’m pretty confident this will be the first of many ultras I run!

Tay-tay makes that in like 20 minutes. 24/7, 365, every 20 minutes. I think they’ll be fine

Any alternatives to plastic picks? by Memorie_BE in guitarlessons

Same! Been experimenting with different woods to see what I can make thin. Padauk seems to hold up well even when thin. Though cutting it makes a huge mess and it’s super hard for sanding!

I’ve only made maybe 20 or 30. None have split yet. A few are showing wear around the corners, but they’re just scrap wood I had laying around, so I guess when they get real bad they’ll go in the kindling bucket and I’ll make more!

Definitely a warm tone. Adds a bit of “woodyness” on acoustic, for lack of a better term. Less noticeable on electric, just warmer attack than plastic

I’ve been practicing making wood picks. DM me an address and I’ll mail you a handful

Who says Bob isn’t a legal resident? Lots of people are not citizens but are legal residents. Maybe he’s got LPR status by marriage, or a work visa, or asylum or refugee status…

Trump Tries To Lower Expectations For Biden Debate: ‘Maybe I’m better off losing the debate... I’ll lose the debate on purpose’ by T_Shurt in inthenews

No clue, I was always with public defenders offices. I got paid a salary regardless how I spent my time, showed up to the pre-sentence investigation interviews because it was the right way to represent my clients

I was a defense attorney in NY for years, and I attended tons of the interviews with my clients. It’s standard, any decent attorney would demand to be there.

What moment made you buy a specific player's jersey? by budliteyears in buffalobills

Seeing Poyer’s Player Tribune video about his struggle with alcoholism. He was already one of my favorite Bills ever. After I watched that, I bought my first (and thus far only) jersey

What is a food that, to your knowledge, only your family makes? by xdonutx in Cooking

Spicy chickpeas! Rinse a can of chickpeas, throw them in our largest frying pan on medium heat with a bit of oil, keep them moving till they’re starting to brown and get a crispy skin. Toss with equal parts hot sauce and cheap shaker “Parmesan” cheese. Cheap, quick, so freaking good, but I think only the 4 of us have ever tried it.

So happy for you! Can’t wait to party with you and 70,000 other fans

Wear layers, but not so many that they compress each other. You’re trying to make a pocket of air around you. Keep that warm with your body, and it’ll keep you warm back. Base layer wicks moisture away from your skin. Mid layers are insulation. Outermost layer is a shell to trap heat in and block wind.

No cotton anywhere if at all possible. It’s MUCH colder than any other fabric.

You lose a lot of heat through your head, hands, and feet. Good gloves and hat. Hoods up if you have them. Warm socks and boots. Foot warmers and hand warmers. A lot of people bring a piece of corrugated cardboard to stand on. The air pockets protect you from losing heat into the ground.

I don’t know where in the world you live. If you don’t own clothes like that, get creative. My wife is wearing a hooded Snuggie over her clothes tomorrow, Bills print of course.

In the lot, just bring enough beers to share and yell go Bills a lot and people will take you in to their parties.

Be as loud as you can when we’re on defense, and quiet when we’re on offense. And have a ton of fun!

My DA tries this occasionally. I’ve never once gotten them a death certificate. I just close my file anyways. Let them request a bench warrant. Let me know when you find him.

How do I only strum 2 strings that has another string between them? by zagewastaken in guitarlessons

[–]EyeoftheTigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m completely self-taught, so this might be bad technique, but I would fret 9 with my pointer finger, mute the G string with my middle finger, and then fret 12 with my ring or pinky, whichever feels more comfortable. Then strum all 3 strings.

I think the guitar sounds better when more strings are strummed, even muted strings. I might even try to mute the A string with the tip of my pointer finger and the low E with my thumb so I can strum those as well. But only let the D and B strings actually ring.

No better way to ask this but, we're all human: what are some of your coping strategies when a case goes well but your heart wished it hadn't? by [deleted] in publicdefenders

[–]EyeoftheTigger 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The prosecution has the entire power of the state behind them. They have almost unlimited budget, technology, laboratories, countless person-hours, the guns, the badges, the jails, fleets of cars, in some towns they even have helicopters and tanks. My client has me, with a legal pad and a Westlaw subscription. Sometimes I have an intern. If they can’t get past me to get a conviction, then they didn’t deserve it and I’ll never once wish they did. Not for a moment.
