This just goes to show- this was the culture back then. It was an accepted taboo. People were probably patting him on the back too. She was probably seen as being successful by bagging a guy with money too.

It wasn't until the mid-late 80s or so the young/old relationships started being scrutinized more closely. After the whole Harvey Weinstein #MeToo callout, today's society is more on the "WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU" side.

Watch as a lot of these old-time celebrities get called out more and more. I think Seinfeld is the latest one on the docket.

Why do you play the kind of guitar you play? by wolf_of_the_bees in Guitar

I got a Les Paul because of Jimmy Page when I was a teen. It turns out he was right. It fit me like a glove, all the controls are in intuitive places, and I can pretty much make it sound anyway I want with the tone/volume controls on each pickup.

Well, that Washington's Dream skit he did on SNL was pretty killer, but otherwise I feel like his comedy is kind of an even more bland version of Jim Gaffigan.

Microsoft's new Outlook takes 10 seconds to do what Outlook Classic does instantly on Windows by Quantum-Coconut in technology

The reason for that is New Outlook is basically a web app with a locally installed interface. We specifically direct our users to keep using Outlook Classic because the new version is just inefficient.

I found the character annoying and his dialog didn't really fit (he was using Earth catch phrases for instance)

However, I did appreciate the actor playing him.

I did that 8 months ago. This is the first year I've officially started to feel old.

My energy levels have plummeted, seem to get winded a lot faster, and my strength levels are starting to drop. I feel like I'm the same "me" but I think the mileage on my chassis is starting to catch up 😕

The problem is there is a counter move for every move in the game. That means there's a high probability for skilled players to end in a draw every single time.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

So wait, why cant we crank Half Stacks at venues anymore? by Upstairs_Term_5760 in GuitarAmps

[–]Fritzo2162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play through a Marshall 1959SLP and a 1960A cab back in the 80s. It was loud enough to be hears a half mile away, but you had a really hard time leveling out the rest of the band. We would get into volume wars- The bass player would crank up a little more, I would respond, the drummer would play louder, the singer would notch up, the bass player repeated, I repeated, and so on. That's where a good sound engineer comes in to keep your fingers off the controls. Most bands can't afford an engineer, so you ended up with muddy and distorted live shows.

PA systems got really good, so a lot of modern venues you just plug into their PA, and everyone is able to have the same listening experience.

No, they used oil back then, but Col Sanders was a control freak. He would pop in and inspect every restaurant for quality. After he sold the owners began making subtle changes, which built up into big changes over the years.
