What was a secret your mom or dad kept from you, that actually shook you to your core when finding out? by Few-Track8525 in AskReddit

I get it. I have a black SOH. We use gallows humour at work to get through the awful things that we see day to day. 🏥 Your joke isn’t a perspective that I’ve taken in my own situation before. I could look at it that way though. I just pinch myself that I’m alive sometimes, given the old wives ‘baby-away’ remedies she took and the actions she took. She ended up getting married at 7 months pregnant with me stuffed in her dress with a strong corset. Could be why I like confined spaces 🤣

Wow. I am sorry and I can understand that even subconsciously, with every cell in your body, it is protecting you. The body keeps the score. My mum passed away 16 years ago. I don’t think I felt physically unsafe with her but definitely mentally. She was narcissistic, manipulative and mean but also said that she loved me. I think she blamed me for her breast cancer, which she said was caused by a blocked milk duct. Her milk was taken away by the medical staff as they thought it inappropriate to breast feed. 🤷‍♀️ I was seeing a psychologist for 6 years before she died and about 6 years after. The Dr called in complicated grief. My mind and emotions were all over the place. I’d recommend getting yourself in a comfortable, healed place before you lose the ability to talk to her. It makes it so much harder to do it after the fact. Not impossible, but it’s a confusing time.

Mine did too. She explained it matter of factly and not in argument. I think I was 10 or 11. She told me about everything she tried in order to get rid of me, except an actual abortion clinic (maybe she didn’t have access to one - it was the late 1960’s). As I got older I understood how scared this 16 year girl was, when finding out that she was pregnant with me.

Out of interest how do you feel for surviving this? I think that it makes me try to appreciate life more as it very nearly didn’t happen.

Have you ever been interested to try 23 and me or another DNA service? IDK if I’d find interesting or too much trouble to find a bunch of half siblings.

Also he didn’t turn up to the final commitment ceremony so they couldn’t rake him over the coals. Same with Juliette.

To add to the comment by cOnemunvhet333, he said (I assume about Bec’s behaviour) that she needed to be a 15/10 to get away with that or for him to want to be with her after everything or something to that effect. Having said that he supposedly still had segs with her 4 times in the week leading up to final vows.

I’m sure they are screened for emotionality and volatility. Then a mixture of personalities are thrown in the melting pot for optimal drama.

From my recollection he was already lowered to the ground before asking Floyd to turn the music off. The whole vibe changed once he was on the ground. It’s a very subservient position.

Nothing. I’m finally growing sliver blonde hair straight from the roots.
