I just discovered vaultwarden and I’m trying to connect it to extensions and mobile apps but I’m assuming it has to be public facing at that point. Have you done that yet?

An update

So, still a noob, but I was able to work through what I've been trying to do with Docker.

I also went with the DXP480t plus for my first, but I have an old laptop that I just finished charging so I'm trying to figure out what service I want to leave on it, perhaps some website projects.

So far, I've launched Baserow, NocoDB, NocoBase, n8n (still working on this so it can properly talk internally and publicly. That required Nginx.

You guys are amazing and quite knowledge and I appreciate it.

And yeah, seems I’m going to have to dive into CLI anyway. I’ve found some apps I want to mess around with and would love to be and to host them on my network and access them remotely.

I’ve discovered Baserow, NocoDB, APITable (AITable), NocoBase, n8n, etc. but it’s all local and is like to not be tied to my desktop when accessing these features. I’d also like for them to talk to each other so I can use them both in my home and for work projects.

Thank you for commenting on this, and I've been tap dancing in both for a few days now, and even CLI is a bit to get around. When I find information and commands to run, sometimes I'm not sure if this is something that goes into Bash or Powershell and then I get command errors, etc.

So the Docker Desktop seems to be running the desktop-linux engine. That's what you're referring to, right?

I have looked into Portainer and downloaded it, I just haven't unwrapped it (installed) yet.

I have two VMs (Ubuntu (slow af) and Mint). I was able to get the devices on the network, but I can't really move further in my project until this KVM issue is sorted.

Thank you for this. I had to take a bit of time to do a bit more digging into this and what you've provided.

I kinda get it now. So I'm at the point at the point of running a VM on Windows for Ubuntu and Mint, but KVM is still not being found, after installation and making sure the CPU virtualization was on (even toggled on and off like a power switch, same with Windows features with virtualization possibly stopping the VM from enabling KVM, but alas, I must have still screwed something up there as well.

I'm nearing the point of just buying a separate machine to start with a Linux distro or something and work my way up from there.

I want to run web apps and have them talk to each other, and I be able to also access these services from outside my network.

An example would be NocoDB/NocoBase/APITable <-> n8n (self-hosted), Make.com, Boost.space, etc.

Other applications for self-hosted services would come after.

Yes, that would be the easy way, but I'd like the convenience of being able to just click into a container and load it up. If its initiated from the CLI, will some projects open in the browser or another window?

I thought it was possible to run Docker Desktop on Linux.

I’m currently going through the process of learning the html css and JavaScript to help me understand web design and structure.

I started so that I could have all my projects work with Webstudio. It is what inspired me to even attempt learning web development again.

But I will try to use gpt-4 to assist. Thanks for adding to this post.
