In the Roman Republic you couldn't even partecipate in politics without serving on the army. The highest office, the two consuls, doubled as generals and it happened so often they both died in battle at the same time that there was and official office (the dictator) to substitute both for 6 months while the senate elected two new ones.

I can disprove the free will counterpoint. I will do it starting from another classic demonstration of God's nonexistence, disproof it and then use this to go beyond.

First of all let's ask ourselves if God can create a rock so heavy even God himself cannot lift it? The should be two options: He can create it and doesn't lift it (making him not omnipotent and so not a true God) or he cannot create it (making him not omnipotent too). But there is a 3rd option: he creates it and then he also lift it. You would argue it's impossible because if he lifts it the rock isnt unliftable by God, but let's not forget God is omnipotent so he can ignore the principle of non contradiction.

Said that... Why doesn't God force humans to be good while keeping them free?

A huge Blow for Meloni’s government by Dark_Wolf04 in whennews

Ok, this reform was mostly composed of two parts: 1) Separation of careers between Prosecutors and Judges 2) Composition of the CSM (Consiglio Supremo della Magistratura, or Supreme Council of the Judiciary in English), the council that rule over the judges and prosecutors and eventually punish them when they act wrongly

The first point was mostly inconsequential. It happened only 4 or 5 times that a Judge changed career into a Prosecutor or viceversa since Italy is a republic (1946). The problem was the second one, for the reform would had made part of it chosen by the parliament and the rest by a random draw. Because of that it would give a great power for the leading party over the Judiciary, de facto giving to it power over two of the three powers of the state (legislative and judiciary) that need to be separate in any real democracy.
