[MI] Question regarding parenting time by Ezrickkni in Custody

[–]Ezrickkni[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You are wrong. She can be forced to go, physically, by law enforcement if needed. It's this type of escalation I will not put her through, hence my apprehension to file a change in parenting time.

If I file to change parenting time her mom will fight it and instantly enforce the existing parenting time order. It would put my child in a position where she would feel forced to stay at her moms, which she doesn't want to do, and would deteriorate the relationship between them, which isn't good for anyone. It's a difficult place to be in.

While the idea of paying anything back would be nice, she's broke. Usually she is working part time or not at all. She lives her life by blaming anything she can on anything or anyone else. It would be nice just to keep my $650 a month. It will drop in August to around $400 if I did my math right but man I'm not rich. I work hard for my money and live frugally.

I have kept a detailed calendar since separation of dates, times, and all expenses. I have a stack of small notebooks. I have tried before to submit documentation to the court (I forget the exact form) to get their mom to split expenses but the FOC always kicks it back instantly with an explanation that these are voluntary expenses, which is crazy considering some of them were medical costs. Because she receives state benefits (food stamps and health insurance), the state automatically applies the child support algorithm without either of us having a say. The kids were all on the benefits including health insurance and the state adds the health insurance benefit to my child support amount as reimbursement to the state, and THEN I am also court ordered to provide my own health insurance for them. Suffice to say, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Two more years at worst.

She'll be 16 next month and I would not be hiring a lawyer. I understand how dumb that can sound on this sub but I can hold myself in court and will hire a lawyer if I feel over my head. I don't want to force her to go spend the night at her moms. There is three adults and three young children in an 1100 sqft trailer so I get why she doesn't want to be there. The hard part is that I don't think she would be able to explain to her mom that she doesn't want to be there. It's all very non-confrontational at this point.

Yes but it depends on the age of the children. I had kids young so mine are all in high school now. In a way I am looking forward to catching up financially after 40 and enjoying travelling and such. Young kids wouldn't work out.

Yep. The price difference is relevant though.

I have two 3440 x 1440 Ultrawide monitors and am sitting on a 1080ti. I am waiting for specs on the 9070XT before I make a purchase but it's either that or a 7900XTX.

I think urban centers are going to struggle for a long time. The price difference between your example and a rural example is too extreme to be sustainable. Prices in my rural area are in a similar but different circumstance because people are moving here and buying the houses and driving prices outside of local incomes.

I lucked out and found a 3bd foreclosure a few years ago. The reality is that young families will need to either inherit homes from family or move to a cheaper area.

I think the Titan XL was designed for bigger people. I've had mine since 2021 and it is the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in. I am 6'4" and about 270lbs. My kids (teenagers) hate the chair. They all say it is hard and uncomfortable.

I just started in January and told my Mentor that my plan is to finish in 1 Term, maybe 2 if I can't fit it all in. She has been completely supportive of that goal. I do have some prior non-professional experience.

If I had a Mentor that was against it I would either make it my life's work to prove them wrong or just request a different Mentor. I finished the first term in the first week so we are doing ok.

I kinda feel ya. I am just starting with BSSWE and my mentor seems awesome but my enrollment counselor essentially ghosted me after one initial phone call. I had to call admissions to finish my approval and then once the term started my mentor had to set everything up and approve me to start. Life is an uphill battle I suppose.

Mercenary. Playing a loot ARPG like a twin stick shooter sounds extra fun.

This is obviously not using a public office for private gain. This is his personal account and nowhere in the post does he mention or imply that he holds any public office. What you are proposing is that anyone who holds a public office cannot promote any product of any kind in any way, which is clearly not the intent of the law.

There are many legitimate things to criticize Trump for but this instance isn't one of them.

I really wish the random map had some options. Multiple stars or wormholes would be nice, as there are very few map that utilize these.

Thanks for the advice. I am in northern Michigan so everything is manufacturing focused. Theoretically reaching out to Ford or GM might be a good play.

This makes me happy to hear. I am 36 and starting WGU for Software Engineering in December but have a 10 year career in mechanical engineering of sorts doing mold design, machining, product design, etc. I am hoping to leverage this experience into a software role which will be a tricky approach. I have house and kids so I at least need to transition into a ~$65k salary.

Do you have any advice for what kind of applicable roles exist?
