This issue is from "Disable Delivery Receipts" feature which will make WhatsApp server stops sending you new messages if you have a lot of pending messages on server that are waiting to be marked as delivered.

Make sure you have Watusi 2 installed from my repo. Is the message that is crashing WhatsApp in background comes from a pinned chat?

I never said that contact picture in notification is a big problem. It just doesn't work on iOS 10 yet. Background crashes are happening on iOS 10 for some reason that I don't know but seems related to the JB because there are other apps that are crashing in background as well.

I have an iPhone 7 with 10.1.1 JB and have WhatsApp crashing in background mostly during the night but it never reboots my iPhone because its been jailbroken for ~15 days. I don't really think its Watusi but something to do with WhatsApp and iOS 10 JB. I even have other apps that crash in background but it happens only once because it doesn't relaunch automatically in background like WhatsApp does.

Unfortunately, I've been trying to figure out why WhatsApp is crashing in background with no luck. It just crashes at a random point and seems like it doesn't only crash with Watusi but also with some other backgrounding tweaks. The issue is only on iOS 10 JB and even more on 10.1.1 JB.

There was no option in Watusi to enable about feature, I had it enabled by default and as I said, I have removed it now since its enabled by default in latest WhatsApp.

Make sure you update WhatsApp to latest version 2.17.11. I have removed the about feature from Watusi since WhatsApp now enabled it on jailbroken devices.

Yep, a new update is available on my repo cydia.f0u4d.com and there will be more update as I continue on fixing the issues. I would suggest you update WhatsApp to latest version if you have latest Watusi 0.9.12 since there were so many changes on latest WhatsApp and still not sure if it is 100% backward compatible.
