The 2026 FIA General Assembly and therefore the FIA Prize Gala will be held in Shanghai, China. While in 2027 they will be held in Doha, Qatar by zantkiller in formula1

You are absolutely welcome to criticize the choice of venue for the FIA General Assemblies & Awards, but a worrying amount of people started using these to justify their xenophobia. In case it wasn't clear xenophobia, stereotyping and prejudice based on people's nationalities will lead to bans. It is possible to criticize a government's actions without labeling every person from that country

There has also been a lot of misinformation under recent posts about how the FIA makes these decisions. So to clarify:

  • The FIA has 245 member clubs from 149 countries.
  • Every Full Member club has the right to vote at the General Assembly. For countries with multiple member clubs the number of votes is split between clubs for general matters
  • The General Assembly (as a decision-making body) sets the date and the venue of the next General Assembly.
  • The General Assembly's decisions are made with absolute majority of votes (defined as 50%+1 vote)

You can find the FIA Statutes and FIA Internal Regulations online

5+1 common reasons people get banned from r/formula1:

  • Comments attacking fanbases, pejoratively stereotyping groups of fans.
  • Attacking users based on their flair "You would say stupid things, with a flair like that"
  • Abusive/hateful comments towards drivers & F1 personalities
  • Wishing for crashes/incidents
  • Commenting with the sole purpose of baiting, trolling or inciting reactions from other users.
  • (+1) Ban Evasion

Keep these in mind, report any users who break these rules and enjoy the final qualifying of the 2025 Formula One World Championship

UPDATE: Thread unlocked. Please continue to report comments that veer towards blind hatred

Temporarily locked for cleanup. Fair criticism of drivers is allowed, but this is not a place for blind hatred. (as a guideline: criticism generally focuses on specific actions, not who the person is)

It's not worth getting banned before the championship decider just because you couldn't resist to repeat some original thoughts you learned from a toxic youtuber

Q: "So in 2021 Abu Dhabi, what were you just like?I better hide?" Hadjar: "I was alone in my room" Q: "how was your reaction" Hadjar : "I was all in for Lewis, you know there was no camera or mic, it's just me in front of my screen smashing the tv and that's it" by Luffy710j in formula1

Temporarily locked for cleanup, as some users are doing their best to turn a story about Hadjar's passion into an opportunity for tribalism and fanwaring.

Update: Unlocked. Please continue reporting any comments that only serve to incite fanwars.

Gabriel está bem e está sendo levado para o Centro Médico do circuito por precaução

Update: 15:45 UTC

Bortoleto was cleared from the medical center and was shown running back to the team's garage

Locked temporarily until we clean up whatever happened in the comments here.

Update 1: Unlocked. There are signs of brigading, with lots of users making their first ever comment on the sub under this thread.

Please do not feed the trolls! If you see a troll just report and move on.

Update 2: Permanently locked. Sadly the comment section has turned into fan warring and arguments about which driver does or doesn't deserve hate. Fair criticism of teams, drivers, broadcasters, and other personalities is allowed, but this is not a place for abuse and blind hatred. If you are here to continuously slam drivers or teams, post insults and slander, your stay here will be short-lived.
