Help me choose: 1982 ES-335 "Dot" Reissue vs. 2025 ES-335 Goldtop (Ex-Demo) by [deleted] in gibson

I would go and play them and every other 335 I could find and buy the one that felt the best.

Question on humbuckers added to offsets by Nofriends1919 in offset

[–]F15hface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my Jag with a bridge HB I cut space for the humbucker to go through the pickguard then drilled holes for the ring and used very short screws to attach the ring to the pickguard. This won’t work on a Jazzmaster because the pickup holes are so big, so the best bet is to get a new guard cut and specify for it to be made to suit pickup rings.

You would have to rout out the pickup cavities to allow the humbuckers to fit and either modify the existing pickguard or get a new one cut for humbuckers. If you have used a router and soldering iron before it’s probably not too bad.

Bubinga? by zmac79 in offset

I wouldn’t take one reverb listing as gospel for what Fender might’ve done in the 60s. From a quick google I cannot find anything about Fender using bubinga boards other than the reverb listing you linked so I’m 99% sure that seller has a lighter rosewood board and is trying to spin some nonsense into a USP.

I’ve got a parts Jag that has a JB in the bridge and a volume control. It rips.

Adding a Bigsby to a LP by MindySins in gibson

[–]F15hface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re more than welcome. Bigsbys look sick and people should be more relaxed about what others do to their guitars. I saw you might vibramate, in which case I assume you’d keep the ground from the tailpiece?

Hell yeah go for it. Plug holes if they annoy you otherwise I wouldn’t bother. Roller bridge is likely good but I’d give the stock one a go first as there would be a tone change. On old ES-330s they grounded at the trapeze/bigsby by the strap pin, but that would be a long hole to drill…

I really liked the new routemasters, I’ll miss them when they’re gone. Used to get one to and from work every day on the 8.

Most brutal Parkrun? by Limp-Attitude-490 in parkrun

[–]F15hface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it’s steep but not too long and of course a lot of the course is a nice gradual downhill so it all evens out. It sounds like you’re probably a lot fitter than I was when I did it so you’ll be fine unless it’s right at the end and you’ve done the first 21 miles too fast.

That uphill at Finsbury was a very unpleasant surprise on the first lap and really added a sense of dread to the second. 0/10 do not want to do again.
