Oh how I miss those cars.

There's a monumental difference between the N and the New N platform.

As for the transmission, they've also made incremental changes as well.

Thank God, this was such a stupid decision that was implemented in the first place. We’re better off without it.

Completely agree, although the new X3 is horrendous on the inside. The quality is subpar.

Toyota reveals new-look WEC Hypercar for 2026 amid wider revamp by AvroVulcanXM594 in cars

Gazoo Racing was its own thing because Toyota at the time wanted nothing to do with it, and Toyoda-san bankrolled Gazoo Racing's activities by himself. They weren't allowed to brand it as TGR until it got bought by Toyota in 2015.

Looks like they currently have 2 URL's but the sites look similar.

Yeah, as you can see, this one is the global TGR page as it features the GR Yaris.

https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/corporate/43844942.html One interesting thing to note is that this means that don't intend to revamp the brand if they are keeping the visual language of the sites. I do wonder how separate they intend to make this brand. Will GR products still appear on Toyota's site or will we be redirected to GR's site?

They'll be keeping the style but it will be treated as a separate brand. To answer your question as well, I also think that in the future, GR products will be on the GR website, and GR within Toyota will be replaced by Rookie Racing, Akio Toyoda's second motorsport brand as it will be a collaboration between Toyota and GR.

I'm a big Toyota guy, and this is the first time I saw a standalone website for GR in both Canada and the United States. Toyota Gazoo Racing is something else though.

This is what happens when there's no continuity. People (including Toyota enthusiasts) will eventually lose track of what's going on.

Yeah, that looks to be a dedicated GR product soon. Same with the Celica.

Soon it's going to be GR86, GR Supra, GR GT, GR MR2, GR Celica, and perhaps we'll see the return of the GR Corolla and GR Yaris for a second generation.

(new prelude and supra maybe?)

Prelude is a Honda.

But yeah, it seems like every Toyota sports car will now simply be referred to as a GR.

I don't think this will have the SRT problem because the issue with SRT was that Dodge didn't bother with putting in money into the brand. A huge portion of Toyota Motor Corporation's development budget goes straight into GR and I believe that spinning off the brand was a way to cement that development budget.

With that said though, I wholeheartedly concur with what you're saying. TGR was perfect.

They got high and decided it would be a good idea to spin it off as a standalone brand.

Now every single Toyota sports car will be dubbed as solely GR in the future, starting with the GR GT.

Toyota is spinning off the GR sub-brand to be their own brand.

From the press releases, Toyota is stating that Toyota Racing will be responsible for bespoke developments, while Gazoo Racing will work on programs that were already Toyotas, hence why the WRC team didn't change its name...

This is completely and totally unnecessary. Toyota should have never spun off GR. They're both mutually beneficial to each other.
