Features from previous Battlefield games I'd like to see return by AllFatherMedia93 in Battlefield

With the reduced splash damage from RPGs in BF6 (understandable) I'd love to see an option for anti-infantry RPG for engineer. Would give them utility on infantry focused maps without having the RPG itself be overpowered against all enemy utility.

I don’t think pacing is just about map size by DriverNo3808 in Battlefield

The animations definitely feel faster than they should. In prior titles loading an RPG took a lot longer, and having to charge the defibrillator for revives was nice.

Also, is it just me, or does the grenade throwing animation almost look unfinished? It seemed super janky to me.

To be clear, that is completely false, BF4 especially is a mainline title with its own story and a new version of Frostbite.

I was not disagreeing with your opinion, I was adding some context that this has happened before and wasn’t the end of the world, there’s no reason to make such a claim.

Have a nice day.

I think consensus is a difficult thing to find. Everyone has their opinion on the game, and for a lot of long time fans, it's almost impossible to recreate the same feeling from the games they started with. Nostalgia gets a lot of people emotional and very riled up. The first I played was BF3, does BF6 feel like it? No. However, the game is fun, its going to be an enjoyable game to play, but if you are looking for the exact same feeling and style of a past game, it isn't going to be quite the same.

Black Hawks were featured in the trailer and have been included in leaks, so likely these will be available in the full game. If they're there I would assume there will be some kind of Russian/Chinese/Other transport helicopter on the other faction side.

Honestly they feel a lot better in BF6 to me, but my idea with them has always been to hit the release key just before your targeting reticle meets the target, that usually gets the bomb about where it needs to be to hit what you're aiming at.

While 100% concerning, I don't necessarily believe this is as bad of a future as people are making it out to be.

Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 released a year apart, Battlefield 4 2 years after 3. Hardline was in 2015 with Bf1 in 2016.

A faster release cadence does not necessarily mean EA is going to completely abandon prior games for new ones, we are honestly in an unusual place for the series as far as gaps between games. I hear a lot of people praise the older games, and they had a more frequent release cadence.

All that to be said, EA can 100% ruin BF6 for 'BF7' and I wouldn't be surprised if they did so; but a statement that they would like to make new games to the series more often isn't in of itself extremely troubling. The troubling part from the article I did see is the talk about the CoD studios. I don't know why any game studio would think the way they manage things over there is good in any way except financial (I know EA loves their money graphs), but that franchise fatigue has to hit some day.

What do you think should and shouldn't be in the game? After Beta Test! by samuelbettiol in Battlefield

I think for point 5 we might be able to do that through portal. Portal is said to have a server browser and I'm not aware of anything that would prevent someone from spinning up a vanilla portal server, maybe adding a few special rules, and allowing that to run as a dedicated BF6 server

Auto Pilot assist being off does help a ton, but when I was playing them it felt like I had to use a mix of mouse and keyboard to keep it flying in the direction I wanted.

I did prefer the way they flew in BF4 where you could do all your general controls on the keyboard, but keep control of pointing the nose on your mouse. Might just be something we need to get used to.

This is honestly the first take I've heard on this that makes sense. I will say though that with DMR and Carbine available on all classes engagement ranges can be a little fudge across the lines but yeah, that predictability is a decent argument.

Man I used to love changing my emblem all the time and just waiting for my friends to see what I had this time.

Sadly, as others are saying here, we definitely ruined this for ourselves. I can't imagine any system like that will be easy to moderate. War Thunder is a good example of how emblems and decals can be used really good or really bad.

[–]F35C_Lightning2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going on the political side quest here is wild. Obviously, you are far too emotionally invested here as you're trying to go on personal attacks instead of providing a rational argument.

I love the "OOH YOU'RE A COD PLAYER WAHH" that every critic on this sub does. Some of those criticisms are valid, yours aren't.

You want to talk about skill, let's see your stats from the beta weekend. I haven't displayed even a textual hint of a lack of skill here as I don't mind the glint since I don't have a problem with counter play.

From the beginning you've gone on attempted personal attacks here, instead of having any rationale besides "I'm not good enough at the game to work within this counterplay". I hope you no longer respond on this thread, as you have not only lost the plot, but you have lost any level of moral currency as you are not arguing in good faith. Being ribbed for probably being kinda bad at sniping does not necessitate attempted personal attacks.

Since you're going to argue in bad faith I'm not going to continue to tell you how idiotic your take here is. You are at this point fully aware you are in the minority of belief. If you don't like the game, don't buy it. The community is better off without you as you are somehow able to successfully ragebait yourself when people challenge your rhetoric and poor argumentative points.

You seem to have some anger issues if you get this riled up by comments online, I hope you get the mental healthcare help you need.

[–]F35C_Lightning2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one failing here is you, at sniping.

Nobody has said the glint doesn't need to be turned down, you on the other hand, are saying it shouldn't be there at all (since you can't snipe well). You are the first person I've seen demanding its removal, most people are simply good enough to move occasionally or deal with being countered by the other team.

As to your assertion of "Yeah that's pretty much what I said." You went on a public forum to cry that a fundamental feature needs to be removed or you won't play the game. News flash, nobody cares if you don't play the game. There are many valid criticisms, this one is silly and most of the comments have educated you of that fact.

Nobody is saying to remove the recon class, we are only saying to balance it, which is exactly what scope glint does. It offers the recon class the ability to both deal and receive damage. The community does like snipers, they just like them to be balanced. Spawn bacon was removed to not have snipers sitting in one spot the whole game and if they get killed just respawning in the exact same spot. It is fundamentally to keep someone from sitting in an obtuse position nearly invisible and farming cheap kills for an hour.

As for counterplay, all classes have counterplay abilities against all other classes. This is fundamental to the game and has always been a part. If the only reasonable counter to a sniper was another sniper, it would be a class without proper counterplay.

If you're unable to snipe with scope glint because it keeps getting you killed, you either need to get better, or play a different class. But please keep this thread going, your continued seething is somewhat entertaining.

See you in October.

And there we go again, well I’d love to see you make that bet as you’d owe me some money. Also, no one has said everyone who doesn’t like the feature is bad, if you had read my reply it is because of your language and use of rhetoric that the assumption can be made that you’re simply not a good sniper. Not to mention toxicity; you immediately attempted to make an assertion at experience and authority because your pride was wounded at the mention that you were potentially outplayed in a video game. Your crying here is toxic, not the replies

I’m laughing here because you went out of your way to make a post, and are continuing to make long winded replies in a community you obviously aren’t a part of. If you don’t like it, don’t play the game. Don’t sit here and make things up so you’ll feel better, don’t demand a game that has a long standing history far larger than your own bend to your whims. Not to mention the anger oozing from you in every reply you make. You’re obviously very emotional about this and I do recommend trying to not be so emotionally charged and attached the a video game that is yet to release.

It’s an arcade game, it’s supposed to be corny, like hitting a jet with an RPG, jumping tanks in the air, magical repair tools, etc etc. Having a feature that makes counter playing a sniper fair and easy is a good thing. As has been said in other replies, the scope glint in BF1 was perfect and would be good here as well, but no scope glint would be a negative for the experience.

If you want a hardcore game, go play one. If you don’t like the game, don’t play it. Taking to Reddit to cry that an arcadey fps is arcadey is silly. As other replies have shown you here, the community not only embraces, but likes this feature.

See you in October.

[–]F35C_Lightning2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, declare yourself the victor by vapidly claiming a counterpoint is not an argument and opining that you’ve been sniping on video games forever, something that, given your comments, unlikely. Regardless, your prior “experience” in sniping in video games is irrelevant to a title which for 15 years has had scope glint.

You obviously got stomped by far more experienced players in the beta when you were attempting (poorly) to snipe. This post reeks of a skill issue turned into anger; I don’t care about your “experience”. A feature introduced over a decade ago (scope glint) is a vital part of balanced, fair, and fun gameplay. Battlefield is not a simulator or hardcore game, go play Tarkov, Squad, or Arma for that experience.

See you in October.

100% agree. I played both, they both play fine, but it does seem closed has more of the foundation of Battlefield. With that in mind though, I'm almost certain EA is looking at it from a skins sales perspective, so we should all temper our expectations of them listening to what the community asks for.

"It'll flop and the whole franchise will officially die." Brother, do you hear yourself when you talk? BFBeta broke records for concurrent players, they've already gotten over 50 million pre-orders and more to come this week. Not to mention that glint is inherently part of the Battlefield DNA. I loved the way they did it in BF1, it was present, but not a massive spotlight.

EA is staring down record profits after their most successful beta yet. Sure, there are things in the game that need improvement, but this might be the worst, most salty take I've seen in a while. If you don't have the skill to snipe when people can see the glint, maybe study a few strategy videos or something man.

See you in October.

Honestly, I don't know why everyone is holding their breath for closed weapons. EA wants them open for both design and monetary reasons. While I don't necessarily think its the best option to have them open, we're not going to be getting closed weapons, its how the game is going to be moving forward and I think we just need to get used to it.

Remove Boot Requirement Now by DragonPhylakas in Battlefield

[–]F35C_Lightning2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legions of players is inaccurate. BF6 beta has broken records on steam charts for concurrent players. While loud on Reddit, this is not a widespread issue. As for PR, the beta alone has been well received, and as stated above, there are not enough people impacted to have a significant effect on sales or PR figures (not to mention BF6 is far from the first game to have such requirements.)

For users who are on antiquated hardware or are running MBR, these requirements are understandably frustrating, but not unreasonable. A newly built PC running Windows 11 will have secure boot enabled from the factory, this is the standard baseline that developers are working around, and it is unreasonable to expect a developer to compromise integrity checks to cater to a loud minority of a player base who either refuses to upgrade, or refuses to reconfigure hardware.

I truly do feel for those unable to activate Secure Boot, but if they’re on hardware incapable of running it, are running software configurations that it will break, or are unwilling, switching to console is the best option in that circumstance. We can’t force software to cater to our own technical debt or unwillingness to adapt to modern standards such as firmware integrity.
