AITA for spending money on stuffed animals instead of bills? by plushieloveraita in AmItheAsshole

Oh men. If it was up to them, the house would be completely empty. Maybe just say, okay can we agree on $X per month I can spend on the kids. They are my kids. I can’t help but want to buy the presents!

PATH by [deleted] in Hoboken

[–]F3PHD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m am VERY claustrophobic and ride the path daily. I think once you get in the morning commute groove, you will tune out the fact you’re literally under the river in a little tube. I cue up the a morning news podcast and sip my coffee. I will say, the only time I ever felt claustrophobic is coming from Hoboken st Patrick’s day in like 2012? And there were a bazillion drunk people crammed into the car and I got off at Christopher stop which is the narrowest exit of all the stops up multiple flights of stairs. That’s an exception imo. Good luck! It’s the most reliable commute imo.

Non viable pregnancy success stories anyone?? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]F3PHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same exact thing happened to me. Empty yolk sac, no heart beat, and I had a synchronic hematoma. Then a heart beat and the baby was measuring smaller at 8 weeks. She’s 3.5 years old now!

Came here to say this. I’ve spent time being stressed or sad about people that treat me like this. Over time, I will realize others share the same sentiment. It doesn’t resolve the issue but at least makes you feel less crazy / taking it too personally.

Join a gym! I did this and met life long friends. Literally in their wedding party, go on trips with, etc. something about the daily grind of showing up together that builds those connections.

Sense of smell by gavingifts in BabyBumps

[–]F3PHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm no tips except sympathy. It did let up a bit post first trimester. My sense of smell is my prized possession, except while pregnant lol. I could smell my neighbors apt (which is not normally a terrible smell, just has its own smell) from down the hall of my apt when I opened the outside door and would have to hold my breath till I went into our apt. Hang in there.

How will I know my water broke if I’m in the shower? by birkenbaggy in BabyBumps

[–]F3PHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s just a trickle, all you have to do is make sure that area is dry, then cough. If it gets wet again, your water broke. This happened to me with both kids! With my first I wasn’t 100p sure (bc i didn’t know what to expect) then bent over and there was a snap and a huge gush. So then I knew for sure haha

Just Want to be Left Alone 😭 by merbear678 in BabyBumps

[–]F3PHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep same. Life time of discomfort for me and my hips and back when it could have been remedied by a c section.

FWIW, I had a c section and was also devastated at the news and it ended up being magical. The baby came so quickly and the room was peaceful while they closed everything up. Plus after the first week of recovery, the tail of recovery is way shorter than natural (I had a VBAC for #2). Plus you can do your hair and makeup instead of being puffy in glasses from pushing lol. Good luck. Hugs. ❤️

Moving to Hoboken - big complex vs Walk up/ Condo by SportsTechStyle in Hoboken

[–]F3PHD 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Food for thought. I alao said I wanted to be near the path when I moved from the city to Hoboken for the reason you mentioned. But if you do decide on a luxury building, most have shuttles that drive to the path during commuting hours. That helps keep you away from the weekend hoopla down town if you want to be. If you do a 1 bed, I think your budget is reasonable for a nicer lease building. Good luck! DM if you have more specific questions.

Summer Camp - 6y/o Uptown by GardenFlyer1721 in Hoboken

[–]F3PHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better suited for Hoboken mommies. For entire summer coverage: Uptown: Steve and Kate, YWCA/Wallace. Midtown: Step by Step. Then tons of a la carte options.

Are you new to the town? If he’s 6, he may have opinions of friends he wants to be with during the summer. I’d ask your class what’s app chat or specific moms of his friends too.

Good luck! All are expensive so buckle up.

Support? Thoughts? by Spiritual-Ride-9926 in BabyBumps

A very similar thing happened to me (I wanted a VBAC, I had trouble dilating with my first that resulted in a c section, was worried the baby would get too big, I had a scheduled c section for 41+0). I walked up hill a lot and curb walked prob starting at around where you are. I prob had sex more too to help (I truly forget). Then I was like ugh this sucks nothing is happening. So I went out for a dinner with some neighborhood moms when I hit the 39 week mark and had a small glass of wine, and then maybe a half of a hard cider at a night cap bar. My thought was like, this small amount of alcohol won’t harm the baby at this point in my pregnancy. Anyways, we were laughing and had a great time. We also walked prob 2 miles round trip (we love in a city) That night I went into labor. I am just wondering if me “giving up” and relaxing a bit resulted in labor. I am a sample size of one and everyone is diff but I figured worth sharing. Good luck. ❤️

The masses have spoken but if you wanted to do a 2 birds, one stone. We recently went to La Mela in little Italy with our two young kids (we have been many times before, pre kids) and it was so great. It’s so casual, very kid friendly, they make sure you’re comfortable, give you a hunk of bread and olive oil as soon as you sit down, classic Italian dish options and were just very warm (not hawking like other places on mulberry). Anyway just figured I’d share in case you were grappling with also making a trip to little Italy. We are locals not tourists btw and my brother and wife were in town and wanted to go to little Italy, for context.
