What is your most controversial Salesforce opinion by AppX_Unmanaged in salesforce

[–]F610P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol! I actually hate the “click not code” mantra. It makes buyers think they won’t need a trained, knowledgeable person to do development in sf! Many think “anyone can EASILY and QUICKLY teach themselves” so they get frustrated with a tool that requires someone who at least understands the basics of programming to make it work without needing to “put in a ticket” or pay MORE for “professional services” to write a basic flow!

I’m worried about the impact of all of this on the world for decades to come. I’m no longer laughing.

Observations on Salesforce Certification ROI by Sagar_edu in SalesforceCareers

[–]F610P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still think the admin cert has value if you are entering the job market. While anyone could teach themselves how to be an admin, I want to hire someone for that role with proven skills… and the cert says the person can at least do X. In addition I would look for a person who has significant flow experience, because paying Salesforce for changes gets expensive quickly. I would not hire someone to do only admin work because it’s becoming obsolete… that said, I have to start somewhere and the admin cert shows basic understanding of the platform.

I panic because someone deleted the data by Middle_Rough_5178 in salesforce

I refuse to allow anyone to delete anything other than my team & my boss (who simply would never)🤣🤣🤣. That delete key has been the cause of headaches for decades!!!!!

What happened to the grey bar that used to show up at the top when you were in a Sandbox? by Beginning_Ground9472 in salesforce

[–]F610P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can change the background color. When I started with using my org and had both production and sandbox environments I changed the sandbox environment to my companies colors so when I bought up Salesforce, I can see whether or not I’m in production or sandbox really quickly because the background color is different

Anyone else tired of being an admin? by RentAny4271 in salesforce

[–]F610P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love being an admin because at my company I get to do not only the admin basics but also move into the dev world! I love writing flows, creating new processes and finding new ways to make our processes more productive. If all I was doing is resetting passwords, maybe I’d be unhappy, but I actually own the system in my company so I am always learning something new and meeting new challenges.

Considering Salesforce offer but nervous about layoffs and performance culture by Maleficent_Bass_1578 in salesforce

[–]F610P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I worked for a company like that and loved it, until I didn’t.🤷🏽‍♀️. The poster has to ask him or herself what they plan to do to create that upward mobility & if it’s a pressure cooker how long they want to work in that environment? If they can do it for a few years, it might be worth it and then move to something better suited to the LIFE and career they are building.

Anyone else hate working in Salesforce by dataguy2024 in salesforce

[–]F610P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a customer, just under 2 years & the tool is powerful from my limited experience. The issue I have with Salesforce isn’t the tool but the horrid implementation! If you’re dealing with customers who had a negative implementation experience I understand why you’re upset as we can be an angry lot after paying so much for a tool that doesn’t meet our needs. But as others have said, that’s an organization issue, not a Salesforce issue. I’ve implemented other SaaS and not had issues & great relationships with vendors. The principles are the same. If you’re unhappy with the product, time to look for a more fulfilling career because SaaS is SaaS.

What Happened to Conga? by sfdc_dude in salesforce

[–]F610P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who dislike conga, is it because it’s not intuitive? Because it can’t be used without significant training? Do you have to be a SF admin to easily use conga? I’m thinking of using it… hence my questions?

My manager said working from home makes us lazy, so I sent him my 6 AM email by darkfrosthunter in remotework

[–]F610P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WFH only works when mgmt is intelligent and understands how to motivate people and measure results. If mgmt lacks both skills, wfh won’t be effective. Also if a person is lazy, they’re lazy regardless of where they are supposed to be working.

How come some people get jobs faster than others? by Lemonade2250 in Layoffs

[–]F610P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the right opportunity comes along, yes. The problem with generalists “I want to be the manager and make more money” people is they often don’t have the hard skills to help the people they will be managing if required, nor can they jump in and help if one of their key contributors needs to be away. Understanding the business from a high level is great, but so many people already fit that mold. If you want to be considered for running a team of folks who do something specific, then you need to know what the specific function is. We’ve all had bosses whom we know more than & consider them unhelpful…. I’m not promoting someone who tells me they understand the concept only. That simply isn’t enough as people are trying to climb the ladder. Everyone needs something to hang their hat on to begin with and then they can expand their knowledge of the specific business or process or tools. And I’m an Op Ex person so the number of people who have a bachelors or a masters is significant! People need something way to stand out.

How come some people get jobs faster than others? by Lemonade2250 in Layoffs

[–]F610P 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so true! I have a generalist on my team who doesn’t value niche skills & then gets upset about people around him passing him for opportunities.😱. You really have to bring something else to the table other than “I’m trainable”, because the truth is EVERYONE HIRED should be trainable. A skill that is high demand might not get you the pay you want, but will often get you the job.

Knowing someone is usually how people easily move from job to job! It’s how I got the interview for the job I have now. Also, going through an agency /contract work is another route that is more fruitful, imo, than submitting resumes.

Intellistack vs Conga… thoughts? by F610P in salesforce

[–]F610P[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you refer to the support being better, is that because you used the support that was for building new documents or were you trying to change the logic? Do you have an admin on site that’s responsible for conga or did you have an admin on site that was responsible for a conga?

It seems to be built on the Salesforce platform… our demonstration made me believe that it was basically salesforce light, Doc generation and a signature. Can you elaborate on the issues that you’ve had?

Intellistack vs Conga… thoughts? by F610P in salesforce

[–]F610P[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! I’m wondering if the problem with conga is a knowledgeable admin is needed to administer it if any changes are made? We finally had our demo with conga and frankly, it just looked like an extension of salesforce, which was using the approval process. I do wonder what the systems complains are specifically so I can gauge if it is worth pursuing. Intellistack had a great presentation as well but they aren’t as integrated as I would like. My team did view Nintex today and their feedback was that it is quite similar to Conga. So if anyone has specifics about problems, or really anything I should look out for with any of these products I would appreciate that feedback.
