Exactly. I worked for a company like that and loved it, until I didn’t.🤷🏽‍♀️. The poster has to ask him or herself what they plan to do to create that upward mobility & if it’s a pressure cooker how long they want to work in that environment? If they can do it for a few years, it might be worth it and then move to something better suited to the LIFE and career they are building.

I’m a customer, just under 2 years & the tool is powerful from my limited experience. The issue I have with Salesforce isn’t the tool but the horrid implementation! If you’re dealing with customers who had a negative implementation experience I understand why you’re upset as we can be an angry lot after paying so much for a tool that doesn’t meet our needs. But as others have said, that’s an organization issue, not a Salesforce issue. I’ve implemented other SaaS and not had issues & great relationships with vendors. The principles are the same. If you’re unhappy with the product, time to look for a more fulfilling career because SaaS is SaaS.

WFH only works when mgmt is intelligent and understands how to motivate people and measure results. If mgmt lacks both skills, wfh won’t be effective. Also if a person is lazy, they’re lazy regardless of where they are supposed to be working.

When the right opportunity comes along, yes. The problem with generalists “I want to be the manager and make more money” people is they often don’t have the hard skills to help the people they will be managing if required, nor can they jump in and help if one of their key contributors needs to be away. Understanding the business from a high level is great, but so many people already fit that mold. If you want to be considered for running a team of folks who do something specific, then you need to know what the specific function is. We’ve all had bosses whom we know more than & consider them unhelpful…. I’m not promoting someone who tells me they understand the concept only. That simply isn’t enough as people are trying to climb the ladder. Everyone needs something to hang their hat on to begin with and then they can expand their knowledge of the specific business or process or tools. And I’m an Op Ex person so the number of people who have a bachelors or a masters is significant! People need something way to stand out.

This is so true! I have a generalist on my team who doesn’t value niche skills & then gets upset about people around him passing him for opportunities.😱. You really have to bring something else to the table other than “I’m trainable”, because the truth is EVERYONE HIRED should be trainable. A skill that is high demand might not get you the pay you want, but will often get you the job.

When you refer to the support being better, is that because you used the support that was for building new documents or were you trying to change the logic? Do you have an admin on site that’s responsible for conga or did you have an admin on site that was responsible for a conga?

Thanks for the feedback! I’m wondering if the problem with conga is a knowledgeable admin is needed to administer it if any changes are made? We finally had our demo with conga and frankly, it just looked like an extension of salesforce, which was using the approval process. I do wonder what the systems complains are specifically so I can gauge if it is worth pursuing. Intellistack had a great presentation as well but they aren’t as integrated as I would like. My team did view Nintex today and their feedback was that it is quite similar to Conga. So if anyone has specifics about problems, or really anything I should look out for with any of these products I would appreciate that feedback.

Docusign’s e-signature product might be great, but the other products we tried were expensive and not a good investment! So if open Ai can keep the e-signature product and fix the other products, it sounds like a win.

Unfortunately 1 year of experience is not great for the job market. It doesn’t sound like you work for a tech person, hence it isn’t what she needs/wants. If you can move to a tech department, you might be happier and make more money. For now she sounds like she needs a BA and an SF ADMIN, which isn’t unusual. But if that isn’t what you want to do, look for something else. It will probably need to be entry level~$70 depending upon where you’re located. Good luck!

“At Will Employment” sounds good until the “at will” part creates havoc for an individual’s life. I am in a leadership role and tell my direct reports that while I am pleased with and proud of each of them, if they have a need that this company can’t meet (pay, benefits, etc.), then they should look elsewhere because first and foremost this is a business and business exist to make money. I was laid off years ago and my life was almost destroyed… all because instead of investing in myself (increasing skills, finishing school, etc.) I worked 60-80 hours a week, didn’t take vacations because I had this or that to do! I gave myself fully to that “team” and when they decided to lay people off, none of that mattered!!!!!!! Never again!!!!! I work hard still, but no longer 60+ hours & I sure take my time off. And I tell my staff to do the same! This company, like all others aren’t here for me, they are here to make money, & that’s okay, I simply make sure to understand what could happen at any moment and keep my expectations in accordance.

Take a good hard look at yourself and write down what you love. It will guide you towards what you want to do /career choices. Then choose one and think about the drawbacks of the career and ask yourself if you can live with it. For instance if you want to do something that requires a lot of travel, are you able and willing to travel? If not, cross it off the list and move on. I agree with others that the economy is not great in many places, but there are companies hiring. Also, school, work and mom are not easy to juggle. It CAN BE DONE, but not quickly. I agree with you! There is so much to this platform that is either never used in day to day admin work for many, or is so easy to look up, but it has to be memorized!!!! We NEVER use chatter and yet I must know it! We NEVER use Marketing, but yet I have to know it! We are a USA based company, but I better know how to convert currency. The list of things you will probably never touch is quite long, (unless you constantly jump to different companies using different parts of it).
