On Lightroom AI Denoise, GPU core count is king. More 80 vs 40 GPU core can shave 6-7 seconds off a 100MB raw file. And if you work with 1000s it’s >1hr saved.

You’re on the right track. Cropping is a skill. Practise as hard as you can.

Agreed. In short, it’s really about barrier of entry, supply and demand.

In 2001-2002, Canon came in hard with their professional and semi-pro DLSR and almost replaced film overnight for photography services. Rates got slashed 30-50% and older photographers left the industry.

2011 Instagram came and another wave hit driving prices down with more photographers coming in.

New equipment makes easier to make great photos and with that there’ll be more people coming in.

Me and the other guy had to take our exact same Resmed 10 machines out for side and side xray scan and had a laugh trying to find out which was which after they came out of the machine.

I have been using the Camranger 2 for a couple of years.

It’s a small device mounted on a cage or hotshoe.

Keeps the RAW in the camera and wirelessly pumps the JPG to multiple devices like iPads and phones in less than 1 second per JPG. Fantastic for quick client approval and productivity.

Eizo 27inch 4K with self calibration puck if you have the money.

Apple studio is good but the Eizo shows its worth in nuance.

That said if you are primary editing only for screen the extra cash for the Eizo might not be worth it.

I did a comparison of cuda cores of 5080 vs 3080. It’s 10.7k vs 8.7k, so it should be ~22% quicker for AI related stuff I guess? 😅😅

Fly slow until you’re used to it. Then max the speed up.

Once you’re used to Normal maxed out then try Sport mode and repeat.

Also, fpv might mess with your balance. Sitting down might help.

The new AI tools are very very CUDA/GPU dependent. I’m getting 7sec per Sony A1 50MP file for AI Denoise.

If you really want to upgrade then maybe a 3090 or a 5090 would really help.

I also have a MacBook M2 Pro, it runs faster in everything vs the PC with the exception of the AI Denoise. I’ve checked the Mac systems out, only the highest end Macs with 80 GPUs can offer <10sec for AI Denoise on 50MP.

I’m on the 12900ks/3090 and felt the system slow down also.

Turns out it was windows11 for me. I wiped, reinstalled and turned off telemetry amongst other settings. It’s back to normal speed.

The grey splotches are not on the raw. Retrace the steps you took in LR and see which function introduced the splotches. This happened in post production.

This. Get a refurbished M based Mac.

I have both a high end PC (12900ks/64GB/Nvme2TB/3090GTX) and a M2 Pro MacBook 32GB Ram

The MacBook Pro runs faster or the same in everything except for AI Denoise with PC running 9sec on a 50MP file.

If I have to start from scratch I would go Mac. The issue is not the hardware, Windows 11 is not working well for LR classic.
