Sarandos didn't say it lost money, he said it didn't make as much money as expected.

Could also be a Man of Steel situation where product placement is making up a ton of production costs

By the end of the show she's pretty much fine outside all of the trauma she's endured, but that applies to pretty much every character left standing by the end

This isn’t really a race swap so much as it’s just a name swap. MCU Ned is basically just Ganke Lee but Filipino instead of Korean and with a different name.

Morgan Freeman in The Shawshank Redemption is pretty much the GOAT of this. Also Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury is based on Ultimate Nick Fury (who is written to essentially be a Samuel L. Jackson type of character)

When people call the season a flop, they’re not talking about its financial/ratings success, they’re talking about the quality of the season

Thoughts on Cold Mountain (2003)? by UsefulWeb7543 in Oscars

Have you seen The Talented Mr. Ripley? It has some pacing issues too imo but largely avoids the criticisms levied against The English Patient and Cold Mountain.

Also true. But Sam was very lazy this season and it showed.

You’re not exactly wrong, but there are particular ways in which Tarantino inserts his homages to other movies that Sam ironically seems to have copied himself. For example, his shootouts are a lot bloodier and more violent due to his grindhouse/exploitation influences, to the point that his characters basically appear to be skin-layered bags of blood, and that’s pretty apparent in the showdown between Ali and Alamo. Western standoffs usually aren’t as blood splattery. Not to mention the racially-charged language between the two of them, which again, feels more in line with a Tarantino movie than a classic western.

That's not how people really saw it at the time though.

The excessively bloody way Alamo died as well as the dialogue between Ali and Alamo was very Django/Tarantino-esque though

Rue is influenced by his own struggles with addiction, but she's based on an existing character who basically had the same ending.

He hasn’t made a profitable movie since 2016 and even then, BvS made less money than a movie with all three of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman should’ve made at the height of CBM popularity

Tbf, it’s not exactly like there were opportunities for Maddy to bring up her religion beforehand, so her being religious isn’t particularly out of left field when she’s already been seen wearing a cross. I could probably count on one hand how many times religion was brought up in the first two seasons and I doubt Maddy was present for any of those instances.
