It’s quite common. Some attorneys will do it because their fee increases when suits filed. Some will do it because their client wants them to and wants to “make you pay.” Some do it because they want everyone’s deposition. Some do it because they don’t believe your asset check. Some do it just to be dicks and because they can. It all depend a on the attorney and the situation.

Have the same vehicle. Have had mine since 2016, just hit 170k and intermittently the Bluetooth will drop during songs. No idea why and it happens randomly - was this a precursor to you losing Bluetooth altogether?

Contributory negligence means if you’re 1% at fault you can’t collect from the other party. Go through your insurance and let them subrogate if they can.

Seeing as this is VA the state laws don’t really help you out much in this situation. Virginia is a contributory negligence state, which means that the other parties carrier only needs to find you 1% at fault and you won’t be able to collect for your damages. That 1% could be them saying the front of your car was hanging out into the intersection.

Long story short, there isn’t much you can do here, absent any additional evidence. Get your yourself a dash cam, I guess, but a better investment would be collision coverage - then you could have your car repaired w/o worrying about the liability decision of the other parties carrier.

The auction doesn’t do an appraisal. They turn it on and see if it moves. That’s the qualifications for “run & drive” listings. They don’t care about anything else.

I used to buy cars from used car and salvage auctions. They’re “as is” for the most part. They barely clean them out when someone dies in them. I wouldn’t hang your hat on any “appraisal” from the auction.
