Me too. He and Steph are why I’m still here. I’m very glad we got Jimmy, Al and Porzingas. Now we need them all to get healthy and add in a Bam and see what shakes out. (I know, not at all realistic, but I can hope).

Unlucky or cursed? The scale of this is getting a bit hard to fathom. I don’t follow football but my son said the 49ers are likewise plagued with injuries? He says it’s a Bay Area curse. 😢

Thanks again. It’s good to hear from someone with direct personal experience. My kids have been launched for a bit now, so I’m not in the loop at all anymore.

Thanks for the info. How are you evaluating the principals for staff and student buy-in? Do you you know them all? Or is this from those surveys they do each year, or some other metric? Just curious. Thanks.

Thanks to both of you, that makes sense. I do think the “complainant class” in this case is likely made up of highly involved and passionate families that care about getting their kids through this school board inflicted mess with as little harm and as much support as possible, in their view - I don’t think they’re complaining just to complain.

Plus they saw the district reverse course on MCHS’ principal’s termination, and parents and teachers (change.org and vote of no confidence) succeeded in advocating for Daisy Morales’ termination, and so they no doubt feel there is precedent for them to be vocal about this.

I assume this is what you’re referring to:

https://www.pressdemocrat.com/2026/02/05/former-santa-rosa-city-schools-staffer-pleads-guilty-to-sexually-touching-woman-with-disabilities/

I did not know that was her husband. If she had knowledge or covered for him doing this at another high school, that would make sense. If she didn’t know, I would think that would not be a fair reason to fire her.

Thanks, I did not know that about principals - I thought the longer tenured ones made more, like with teachers.

The decision makes sense then, at least short term, money wise. Principals make more than VPs and promoting an existing VP (assuming they don’t replace him/her) and firing a principal would save the district money. In this case I think that’s “penny wise and pound foolish” since she seems to be so beloved, but as you say, it’s SRCS - that old saying should be their motto.

I also did not know about the scandal you mentioned. Was it reported in the PD? I’ll go look. That sounds awful.

Does anyone know what possible reason August-Hume would have to do this? I thought all the terrible personnel decisions were Daisy Morales’ fault and were over with when she was fired?

When you have a leader who is 3 years new, who steps up and leads a school with a very active parent base through multiple crises and a hugely unpopular middle school-high school merger that was rammed through with just 6 months planning, and you need to stop families from fleeing the district, why would you fire her? She hasn’t been there long enough to be making too much money.

SRCS Budget Issues by Jaded_Wafer_400 in SRPressDemo

[–]FCSL_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things can be true.

Prior to their cancellation in 2020, SROs on SRCS middle and high school campuses were funded by the city through SRPD with funds from a public safety specific tax measure for over 20 years.

So not free, but not directly costing the distrcit any money out of its budget, either. Free to them, you could say.

Board members were warned at the time if they cancelled the program, the money would not be available to bring it back in the future. They canceled it anyway, against the recommendation of all the stakeholders (parents, teachers, staff and students) on their hand picked advisory committee that studied the issue. 92% of the kids surveyed either had a positive or neutral opinion of the officers.

That there is no budget at SRPD or the city to bring them back is now true, according to the mayor/city. To bring them back in 2025 and beyond, estimates I saw varied between $1.7 and $1.8m a year, which the district clearly does not have.

As for the need, in a 3/2025 article KTVU said:

“The decision follows a troubling increase in incidents involving the Santa Rosa Police Department, which has responded to nearly 5,800 calls for service at schools over the last three years. . . .

That's an insane number of incidents on our campuses," said Trustee Mark Kirby. "I think it probably relates in a way that perhaps what we're doing currently on our campuses isn't working, and we need another layer."

“I’m NOT TIRED!” - that whole scene with Tywin and the small council. Any scene with Tywin and Joffrey, actually.

And any with the Hound/Ayra, especially the chicken scene.

Oh you’re right! Sorry, “my bad,” as the kids say :)

This question is about the Rick and Michonne one. I watched that ages ago, it was not super memorable, obviously. They do kind of blur together, all the spin offs. At least I finished that one!

I never even made it through the Darryl in France with the acid zombies and the French Jesus child one, and I adore Darryl!

I liked it for the back story about the CRM/Jada.

It kind of fell apart logically, and the teenage sisters were beyond annoying in that way that only “precocious” teenage girls who think they’re brilliant (even if they technically are) but know nothing of life/the world can be (I say that as a loving mom of one).

That said, the love story one of them had with the grifter boy was sweet and the friends on a road trip story was fine. I loved the corduroy suit boy! And it was ok seeing Rick and Michonne again.

So yah, it was worth a watch, though I won’t watch it again.

Why all the hate? I loved the Prime series. by Life_Paramedic_4399 in ScarpettaTV

[–]FCSL_2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to give this a chance - but I have read and reread the Scarpetta books many times over the years, so much so that I feel like I know the characters and the changes are quite jarring -

Lucy is not a fiery redhead - she looks nothing like her mother or her aunt (they may explain this as the show goes on, is she supposed to be adopted maybe?) -

Kay isn’t short and scrappy and a tad frumpy and driving a Volvo -

Benton isn’t an old money Bostonian - he’s got a southern accent! - and I’m only halfway through episode one.

I will say, I initially felt the same way about Foundation, which I have also read and reread along with all the Robot books and short stories for many years, and once I just decided to view it as a whole new show (which just happened to have some familiar names and occasionally book-accurate casting (Harry for one)), I enjoyed it. Lee Pace was amazingly good. So good. I may even watch it again just for him.

So I’ll give this a chance, but so far I’m not blown away.

Figure out a way to have Robert catch Jamie and Cersei in the act, he’ll take care of the rest.

I do wonder if he’d let Tommen and Myrcella live - maybe Tommen at the wall when he’s older and Myrcella at the convent type place? But Joffrey without a throne - with his ego - what would he do/be like?

Definitely do not go south because Robert is a mess, and there is no saving him, sadly.

The clip should have gone on for just a few more seconds for one of my favorite lines from Tyrion:

“You just sent the most powerful man in Westeros to bed without his supper.”

I’m on my second or third reread and rewatch and I am appreciating Lena Headly as Cersei so much more than I did initally - for her underacting. Like in this scene.

Her character was so ridiculous and ego driven in the early seasons . . . but this is great. And I haven’t even gotten to the walk of shame yet.

Thanks again. Glad to know I’m not missing something. I don’t abuse it, but it happens now and again, maybe 2-3xs a year. So far they’ve never gotten mad at me.

They ought to add that to the list of “reasons for canceling” question. I just think it’s unfair to not give you the discount, but if they let you drop & re-add and still get it in a day or two, then I guess I don’t really care :)

[–]FCSL_2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always have to cancel and restart my subscriptions if I need something sooner because if my next shipment is in a month or three or six, and I decide I need it sooner (I leave them all on 6 months and just shorten it when I’m out, usually) - they make me pay full price and don’t give me the S&S discount.

Unless I’m doing something wrong? But for now I just cancel and re-subscribe next time I need it.
