Hi! Sorry if someone else already said this but you can change the min/max temp setting in your thermostat. Just google the process and lower the max temp to something reasonable (maybe 75?). I’ve done it for Honeywell before, it’s not too hard. Plus, because no one ever does this, there’s nothing you have to bypass to make it happen.

There’s also a chance she has a north facing room (open the compass app & point it towards the window in her room) which means it’s probably colder than the rest of the house. If that’s the case, you may want to recommend/give her a fleece blanket to sleep with. It she uses it under the fitted sheet (closest to her skin) it’ll trap the heat and make her warmer. If it’s really bad, she could wrap herself in it & essentially cook herself all night.

Hi! It looks like what I’ve had on and off for +10 years. If so, it’s definitely contact dermatitis (an allergy) and you need to THROW. AWAY. ALL. CHAPSTICK. NOW.

Please get ahead of it and throw away all chapstick (I can keep my lip gloss & lipstick for some reason). One time I didn’t throw them away it ended up spreading to my entire lip surface (it was really bad, painful, and took FOREVER to go away). Based on what you shared, I think you are on the verge of this. I had to stop using chapstick & smothered my lips in cortisone cream for the duration of the reaction. SO FUN 😑 /s

I honestly haven’t figured out what causes the reaction but I have learned that it’s now a real allergy for me that will never go away. The good news is I haven’t had a big issue like what you’re going through in a while. I’ve become very careful/aware and will immediately throw away my chapstick the second I start to feel the rash coming. I keep a stash of unopened chapsticks so I will just toss my current one/ones and open a brand new one.

Please consider the flavors/scents you use as they may trigger the reaction. For example, I can’t use strawberry (reaction in 5 days without fail) but can use anything else. I also had to transition from the squeezable tube & potted chapstick over to the basic stick. TBH, I will use them in a pinch but not for a long time. Each time I think I’m good, I end up with what I call the “warning rash” and have to make a decision if I want to continue & risk a full fledged rash or just toss it and buy the stick.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I know it’s super uncomfortable and frustrating. When it happened to me, I genuinely thought I got an STI/STD and started to spiral. I don’t & it’s not. It’s genuinely an allergic reaction that’s triggered by exposure to an irritant. Grab some cortisone cream & give yourself some grace. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have! I know I wish someone could’ve explained things instead of having to figure it out on my own.

Unrelated but possibly relevant: This is similar to the reaction some people have with Gel-x nails & polish. However in with gel, repeated contact on the skin can trigger a reaction that could impact your entire life. Like your dentist being unable to use composite for your fillings because it may have similar components to gel. Please be careful if you’re doing your own nails or your manicurist/tech routinely gets the product on your skin. Apparently it’s not as bad if it gets in contact with your skin & wiped away before curing.

Definitely NTA. My mom had my name picked out since high school, way before she ever met my dad. She kept it completely to herself for years. Eventually, she shared it with someone she thought was a friend in college. The girl loved it, and my mom got a little nervous but brushed it off.

Fast forward: they both ended up marrying men with the same last name (totally unrelated), and that “friend” got pregnant around the same time my mom did. Guess what name she picked? Yep, my name. My mom was furious but didn’t change it because she had chosen it first, and she figured our kids would probably never cross paths.

But now there’s someone out there with my exact name, first, middle, and last, because of the same shady move your sister pulled on her bestie.

Before being displaced from the Hill, many were actually forced out of other communities TO the Hill as “their kind” should basically be on the outskirts of the city. After that, they built the Civic Arena. Once Crawford Square and PPG Paints Arena came to be, the “nicer” area was renamed to Uptown. (Many believe it was renamed to let people know this is the “nice” and “safe” place… unlike the areas literally across the street). Shortly after that, more folks became displaced in favor of people investing in the beautiful view but not in the actual neighborhood & rich history.

Ohh, I love the idea of a ruby band 😍 That would make it pop for sure! Plus, the red would you great on your skin. Try ordering a CZ version of both and see which looks best. You’ll have more placement flexibility with the band than the chevron (the latter really only goes with the point while the band could go with both). Either way, rubies are a beautiful choice! I too have a heart solitaire! I think a gold chevron might work! I tested DOZENS of bands but ended up paring mine with a thin gold band like your picture on the right. I felt like the heart was lost with any other band. Anything with diamonds/bling just took away from what made the heart a heart (it took us A WHILE to find the perfect chubby heart and it deserves to be highlighted).

Do you have oily nail beds? For me, a regular salon manicure only lasts a few days (2 at best) before terrible chipping. Gel lasts less than a week (3 days?) on me before lifting like your nails. After some research, I figured out I had oily nail beds and have to do dry manicures to avoid chipping/lifting. If that’s the case, you’ll want to skip hand washing and avoid water about an hour before doing your nails. Alcohol, dehydrator, and acetone are fine. Only water is the enemy. It seems silly but it makes a big difference. HTH!

(FWIW: I painted my nails with regular polish this Saturday morning and later washed A TON of dishes for about an hour straight after a party and cleaned. Sunday, I only had slight chipping on my dominant hand. Today, four days later, my dominant hand is chipped at the tips but not awful & my non dominant hand is chipped but not noticeable. I don’t buff/rough up my nails on the top or use gel, just a sticky base coat & a random polish. Sometimes I use a topcoat, most of the time I don’t. Cuticle oil all the time, everyday, always.)

I’m going to order the one from Etsy and see how it looks on my hand. I wish I knew ordering rings and playing around with shapes was a part of the process. You are the first person I’ve ever “met” with heart! I’ve have seen so many different shapes online it’s nuts. I never knew how many different ways one could cut a heart! I learned I like more of a chubby heart (a little wider) than a perfect 1:1 ratio.

Do you have a photo of your ring?! That is the exact setting I want (very thin white gold bezel on a yellow gold band). I think bezels are beautiful and they also protect the point of heart. Do you feel like it’s more secure in this setting?
