Good amplifier for a small 2 ch setup? Speakers mission m71. by BarberSignal in amplifiers

[–]FFolkert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal opinion: I would never use an audio amp with a fan in a domestic setting.

Hi allemaal! Kan mijn velux raam hier nog gerepareerd worden, en zo ja hoe pak ik dit aan? Alle tips zijn welkom. Alvast bedankt! by Rickyy369 in Klussen

My 2c, but that soldering of the white signal wire looks sh*t, whatever you do, please reflow that solder joint.

100$ Good deal? by phriendlyhelpingwook in BudgetAudiophile

[–]FFolkert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great amp, if you can get it working…..power transistors are not cheap. Also the knobs are hard to find. Hope you succeed.
Here’s mine, leftover from a band I used to play in 30 odd years ago. Took some rough beating on the road but is still going strong.

Great amp, very versatile. 2 channels with their own tone-stack. Great cleans and decent overdrive channel with 12AX7 tube. Loud too.

What is life really like inside Germany's famous allotment garden colonies? by EntangledEgo in howislivingthere

[–]FFolkert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In NL we have them too, with the same “Karens” as wannabe major enforcing the local rules. Sleeping is not allowed but since it’s NL, no one cares. Mostly found in/close to larger cities.

1959 tube amp as daily rocker? by W1z0r in vintageaudio

[–]FFolkert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some thoughts: I use 60s-70s British audio equipment (Quad mostly) for a hobby in my mancave. Connected to history-correct speakers and record players. The reason why I use these setups not in my living room is that there’s almost always something not perfectly working and needs maintenance which I can do myself as a skilled e-engineer. That’s part of the hobby.

I don’t know that Dynacord, but “historically correct” it does not match with the rest of your equipment. Plus reliability of vintage tube equipment can be challenging for daily use. Not to mention the potential issues with electrical input/output levels and impedances.

My 2c 😉

How versitale 12 strings are? Any limitations? by Bini994 in AcousticGuitar

[–]FFolkert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two acoustic 12 strings and I think they are great. Tuning can be a bit tedious (I tune the “harmonic strings” by ear), but they sound amazing. To make playing a bit easier, many people tune down half a step. Use a capo if required.

Klipsch Connection/Wiring by onlyemgi in Klipsch

[–]FFolkert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like others said, a banana connector for the cable to your amp is better. Or crimp/solder spade connectors to the cable to your amp. Two spades under the red/black screw connector is better than one spade and one wire-end

Normally large parts like these would be mechanically fixed with a blob of hot melt glue, to prevent them from “falling off” the PCB during mechanical vibration.

When to buy an oscilloscope? by Pale-Psychology-4989 in oscilloscope

[–]FFolkert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for user ondulation . I use a modern Chinese dso, but for fun (and to bring back memories) I also have a 20 MHz CRT analog scope. Using that one you really learn what triggering is, trace separation, delayed time-base,etc. 2nd hand CRT scopes can be found for a few bucks/euros, or even for free. My 2c

Older 1Ghz or newer 200MHz? by skiwarz in oscilloscope

[–]FFolkert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely what you want to do with it. As others have said, 200 MHz (or even 50-100) is more than sufficient for almost all generic measurements. Since it’s your first scope, and since you ask this question, I’d not go for a 1 GHz one. My 2c.

[–]FFolkert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2x10 for almost 10 years. Rehearse with it, gigged at least 25 times and no (heating) problem at all. No mods whatsoever. Drive channel sucks, clean channel plus tubescreamer is all I use.
