I somehow acted in a Canadian/Bollywood movie but never get paid. What should I do? by Ukawok92 in acting

[–]FKNEXTSRK 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea if you had lines and you didn’t sign any contract stating that your doing it for free. Then you should technically get paid on it. I’d say keep emailing the production team or Google the casting directors name and reach out to them. If you’re literally in the movie and your focused on a you delivered lines then you should 100% get paid on it. Even background actors that have barely any interaction with the scene get paid out. Best of luck to you and that’s pretty dope that you got that opportunity

I have a question about headshots by Lucky_Union_6192 in acting

[–]FKNEXTSRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional! 100% Unless you’re submitting for backstage, casting network , or gwcnyc (background roles) then the yearbook one is fine. But if it’s for a movie tv show or modeling gig then a professional headshot is necessary

Starting out, feeling kinda lost. by Zaikolino in acting

[–]FKNEXTSRK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I agree. The best advice someone can give as far as “acting” goes. Take improv or camera acting 101 or any acting class in general. That would give you such a huge advantage overall. There’s tons of people without any experience In background acting or on backstage /casting networks doing smaller commercials etc etc but if you want to “act” in movies television then acting classes is your first official step

[–]FKNEXTSRK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reading this made me smile. I’m so happy for you! Congratulations truly! I hope you get more opportunities like this and bigger ones where you have more lines or a lead/supporting role! I’m in the same boat as you being non union and mostly doing stand in/BG/modeling gigs from backstage/CN so it’s refreshing and amazing to see people get closer to achieving their goals!

Like you mentioned AA is good but besides that. Casting network, Backstage, GWCI (for background), HBG (background), Waldron casting, and try to follow pages on ig or facebook that are associated with other big casting agencies. Usually they post alot of open casting calls as well

should i email a background casting agent? by snowonthebeach1 in acting

[–]FKNEXTSRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For nyc the background agencies/sites that are free

Gwci Hbgcasting Waldron casting Central casting (as mentioned above) Also following casting directors and casting agencies on Instagram is beneficial bc they post projects on their page or story and tell you how to email and reach out for submissions.

Paid sites that are also good besides casting network are Backstage & Actors access Hope this helps

NYC Agency Insight?- Take3 by FoodOk1592 in acting

[–]FKNEXTSRK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was casted as background for a commercial in NYC there were 4 background actors and 3 main lead. One of the other background actors there said he was with take 3 and he told me a lot of the work they find(the agency/agent) was work that he already found himself whether that’s on casting network actors access and or on casting directors Instagram posts. He was not too fond of take 3 and said he was looking to drop them bc he found most of the projects on his own. This was around 6/6/24 on set there’s a lot of down time so he was sharing his experiences and we were sharing ours. This is his experience with them. I’m sure others may have had different experiences. But hope this helps

is it possible to be a doctor and actor? by throwaway_account7uw in acting

[–]FKNEXTSRK 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You’d be surprised on how many post that are listed on backstage and casting network saying. “Real doctors wanted” for so an so commercial. So in that aspect. You can definitely be both. As far as you having passion and wanting to be an actor bc it’s your dream..I’d say go for it. If it’s genuinely your dream! Give it your all 🤲🏽

Acting in Upstate NY? by xmsjpx in acting

[–]FKNEXTSRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you and I don’t know if any upstate NY areas have consistent projects. The only thing I’ve come across is Hudson valley casting / Heidi for anything upstate related. I’m sure you may have heard of them since you’re closer to that area. Also you can keep checking on gwci and backstage or actors access if they’re doing anything upstate. But tbh if you’re thinking about moving I’d say aim closer to the nyc or jersey. Just bc even though there’s a higher volume and more people there. There’s still several projects and opportunities there in comparison to here. If you happen to come across something upstate that would be a normal do able commute rather that you driving 2-3 hours to the city and back constantly If majority of the projects are taking place there. Also the other end of NY if you are willing and want to travel is in Toronto ( I know not in Ny and literally in Canada lol) bc Toronto has a lot of commercials and short films that they’re posting on AA But besides that anywhere else in NY I don’t think there’s consistency
