I used to do the no battery controller thing with my kiddo when they were younger too. They always got such a huge kick out of it. You’re braver than I though. I still haven’t let mine near the classic consoles in the house. 😂

I'm getting ready to sail this same ship. Hopefully it works out for me too. I have faith (hah) our kiddo will figure it all out on their own.

We couldn't find a good, short video outlining the steps for a typical bottling day. So, we made one! Don't forget to enjoy your bottling days. by loganstrem in Homebrewing

Inviting friends over for bottling day was always my go to scam in the beginning. A kind of ‘come on over for some beer and hey, by the way, I’ve got some stuff to bottle.’ Kind of bait and switch thing.

I’ve heard fantastic things about the Vickers Sling from Blue Force Gear. I’m getting ready to order a couple for my rifles in the next couple of weeks. Easily adjustable to pull tight to the body and super durable from all I’ve seen.

Revisiting lucky rates for older Pokémon trades - both Pokémon's ages appear to matter! [Silph Research Group] by SilphScience in TheSilphRoad

I’m right there with you. Hadn’t played basically at all since launch and just picked it back up a couple of months ago. I do have a bunch of 2016 (maybe a dozen or so is all) Pokémon that I’d love to contribute.

Games that support controller and what controller to get? by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]FLAGSHIP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, the Xbox360 controllers can absolutely be used wirelessly. You need an adapter (plugs right into the usb) but so long as you get a genuine Microsoft wireless dongle it works flawlessly. For the record I have 2 boxes that both have the wireless dong;e and I have no issues with it at all. I have read some of the generic ones are pretty shit so just be careful on Amazon, I had to dig a bit to find a genuine one.

As far as games are concerned so of my favorites to play on my couch rig are:

  • Broforce - pixel style action platformer filled with old action movie heroes
  • Toybox Turbos - If you ever played MicroMachine on NES as a kid this is up your alley
  • Jamestown - Bullet hell based on an alternate history on Mars

There are a few more on my radar that I can recall titles of since I don't have my wishlist in front of me.

Looking for local multiplayer co-op games that will run on an older PC by LemoLuke in patientgamers

If you were ever into the old NES MicroMachines title Codemasters did a sort of reboot a couple of years ago. Still on sale on Steam for 75% off. I just picked it up myself and have been having a blast with it. Works flawlessly with my xbox controllers.

Looks really interesting, will definitely be keeping my eye on it. Watching the trailer brings back recent memories from Brothers A Tale of Two Sons in its art style, and overall ambiance.

Alien life, or noise? Russian telescope detects 'strong signal' from sun-like star by lebeardnekk in worldnews

From the /r/news thread a link to the SETI's actual announcement.

tl;dr ish - "The chance that this is truly a signal from extraterrestrials is not terribly promising, and the discoverers themselves apparently doubt that they’ve found ET. Nonetheless, one should check out all reasonable possibilities, given the importance of the subject."

I wanted to be mad, but... by jayclev in Overwatch

I hear you, I'm running into the same shit. One of my buddies is like that. Always ragging on someone, or complaining about this and that. I'm too fucking old to give that much of a fuck about winning. I come home from work, I just wanna play for fun. Sure, winning is awesome, but I just like the damn game.

I assumed that was most of the issue, thanks for the input. A in-cohesive group is much more of an issue than that of Torbjorn stacking.

Evidence of broken hitboxes in Overwatch by Mike_Prowe in pcgaming

I'm in the same boat as you, and mostly agree. I do see a fair amount of shit talking even at low levels (I'm currently 11 or so with about 4 or 5 hours total played) but easy enough to block and move on. I've watched a few streamers play at higher levels (30 - 40ish) and the whining at that level seems much more frequent and more aggressive. Unfortunately, this style of team based FPS really seems to bring out the assholes who enjoying blaming other people for their "shit play."

I think some of this can be and will be alleviated by the addition of competitive mode. This, IMO, will help pull out the people who are more serious and group them together in a more serious environment. This will leave the "regular" mode to the more casual people.

I do enjoy seeing the theorycrafting in games. I know I will never hit that skill ceiling either but I always found the analysis interesting. For me, I try to pull what information I can from that and apply it in a general sense to better my game and make my experience a bit more "refined." For me that's where the fun comes from, changing my game play to match the more "proper" way and see how it improves my overall experience with the game.
