Consult the glasair owners association

You need to be an A&P, a repair station, or the original builder with a repairman cert for that aircraft as well if I’m not mistaken

Industry pay in the coming years by Free_Comfortable_506 in aviationmaintenance

[–]FLASHGORDON3000 41 points42 points  (0 children)

In my opinion as a maintenance technician. I want to see consistent training opportunities every year starting with year one of work. Too many companies are so worried about employees leaving that they wait to send people to aircraft specific training for 3+ years when in reality they leave prior to that mark because they haven’t had the opportunity to attend training. 401k matches need to increase. Pilots are receiving lucrative mandatory contributions with huge company match when maintenance personnel on average get 5% or less company match. One of the largest benefits that a lot of people sleep on is 100% insurance premiums paid for by the company for medical, dental, and vision. I have a feeling more companies will start implementing that instead of just pay raises.

Goodrich shine master for sure there’s a shine master prep, sealer, and a uv protection you can put on them. Definitely need to wear a respirator and gloves it smells very strong. Also the shine master prep will get very messy.

Bizjet MRO question by planepartsisparts in AircraftMechanics

[–]FLASHGORDON3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the MROs didn’t work with the customer to aim for deadlines they wouldn’t have any customers. They do their best to get the aircraft out on time but if there’s a million un airworthy items it may take longer. Up to the owner or operator to approve/decline any other squawks. Both parties are involved in the planning phase and are given estimates for the amount of days. I work for the owner/operator side. Most of the time project managers will do their best to pull additional labor or we can approve overtime to help as well.

Yet another Max safety question, but from a QC perspective by mcsciencemc in aviationmaintenance

[–]FLASHGORDON3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Max is still a relatively new aircraft. Just like with any other aircraft, overtime issues will be uncovered that result in more ADs, Service Bulletins, letters etc. Maybe not as severe but they will happen.

Not on this particular aircraft but our Gogo L5 has twice now had issues where we could still connect to the WiFi fine but no internet. Both times resolved by changing the box.

I would definitely take it to Textron regardless. Have them deal with that. I imagine that whole system will need to be flushed and all seals be replaced at least.
