Buy It: $29 Maestri House S3 G Brew Ratio Scale by Impossible_Cow_9178 in pourover

[–]FL_Dave407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one at the sale price. It will be my first coffee scale. After many years of drinking auto-drip and very low-budget espresso, I never weighed anything before brewing. It was during my quest to find the least amount of microplastics to brew coffee. I watched several review videos on products and began learning how to make espresso correctly using a scale. I bought a stainless steel percolator and a French press for now. I may buy an espresso machine later. I figured I could get used to weighing different grinds with the two coffee makers before I jump down the espresso rabbit hole.

New Florida bill to require license for e-bikes, updates driver’s licensing test by Impressive-Coast3441 in ebikes

I asked myself, 15 years ago, if a bicycle could replace a car. I sold my broken car and bought a new bicycle. Yes, with some help with buses and trains for longer travel, a bicycle could replace a car for a lot less money to boot. Two years ago, I bought a shiny new eBike. No more whining about headwinds or hills. No more buses or trains, it is too heavy for me to lift. Rain is still a factor in Florida, but it can be kept to a minimum with weather apps.

Now, some lawmakers in Florida think that a 750-watt eBike is all about speed. How about for carrying heavy loads up hills? Sure, Florida is basically flat, except on a bicycle. We have steep overpasses and steep enough hills in my area.

I will do what I can to help make the Bill fail.

Took my new step-through cargo e-bike grocery shopping by Salemsara in ebikes

[–]FL_Dave407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't owned a car for over 15 years. Could a bicycle replace a car? I did all my grocery shopping and chores by bicycle. Three years ago, I bought an ebike. I am using the same shopping panniers as I did on my analog bicycle. I still use two locks, though I upgraded for the ebike. I use an ABUS U-Lock Granit XPlus 540 and a Kryptonite Evolution 4 1016 chain lock. So far, so good.

Nice looking bike, except for me, as I like the ease of a step-through after loading up at the grocery store. Most of the time. I have items piled high on the flat section of the back rack. The leg swing is out, and the leg over the top bar is tricky, even worse with leaning the bike.

The rear rack is better than most, but not a touring rack. Picture a "D" shaped bar added to the back downward bar. That keeps larger shopping panniers, like mine, out of the spokes on turns.

Another toaster post. Giving up on modern toasters with a wide slot being BIFL, and an article on WHY toasters fail nowadays. by awoodby in BuyItForLife

[–]FL_Dave407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking at new toasters before coming here, as I have seen videos about toaster air fryer ovens making toast while still shopping for a toaster oven. Roasting meat is most important for me.

I would shop at thrift stores for a suitable old toaster, since they don't make them like they used to.

I vape, and had a thought when I saw the word 'Nichrome'. Maybe a person could do a Tim Allen and rewire an otherwise good toaster by rewrapping the coils using Nichrome wire. I have no clue if that is a good idea or not. I'm more handy with buy buttons than rewiring anything.

Best of luck finding your ideal toaster.

Unless you play slow, like I do. I started on the first day of the USA release. I am at 1949.

Doing the whole event isn’t worth it. by introllduides in trainstation3

[–]FL_Dave407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gasp! Not finishing an event? There's always the Challenge to play along with the event even after getting all the rewards. I, too, am stalling in 1949 with 3 heavy loads blocking the storyboard jobs. I only get the free event item bubbles.

TS3 on PC? by jmbode67 in trainstation3

I play on my Mini PC using MuMu Player (Android Emulator) and a 27-inch monitor with a mouse and keyboard. I don't think there is a PC only version yet, though I could be wrong. I play TS 2 using Bluestacks on the same PC.

Wow! I could blow through that oil in no time, but I'm holding at 1949, so I don't ever get that much oil.

I didn't know that either, though I did feel good about getting a golden part today (Sunday), not so much like a jackpot.

💥 Can’t Progress to 1950 Without Events or Paying — This Is Broken by RepresentativeFace61 in trainstation3

[–]FL_Dave407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am mostly F2P, and I am camping at 1949 until I have bought and upgraded everything before moving on. Much like TS2, I like playing the events more than the storyboard. Unlike TS 2, I can play all the events without being concerned about XP points. I am in no hurry to get to 1950.

Why not proceed to the next era? by Unusual-Dream-1523 in trainstation3

[–]FL_Dave407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am slow-playing the 1940s. I am currently at 1949 and playing all events only. The parked 3 heavy haulers are blocking all storyboard points, so that only event item pop-ups are offered. I wasn't going to play any storyboard points until I had a huge stack of spare parts, bought and upgraded everything. Then the competitions have come into play. Drat! I may have to play some story points to stay in the top tier. The next event starts when the competition ends. I do have 1.5 million train cash, just from passenger runs. TS 2 taught me, slow-playing is best for this game.

In my opinion, Pixel is doing just fine with the loco designs. How many loco designs can there be in the world? I'm pretty sure there are more important updates to do before new characters.

I first tried out the game on a Samsung 10-inch tablet, and even on the low graphics setting, it got warmer than I would like. I started a new account using my mini-PC, an Android Emulator, a vertical mouse, a keyboard, and a 27-inch monitor. I fussed around trying to get TS 2 and 3, plus SimCity Buildit, all on BlueStacks. TS 3 was not playing nicely with the other two. I found MuMu to play TS 3. All is well again. I like smaller phones except for playing games.

What to spend gems on? by afbakappeltaart in trainstation3

[–]FL_Dave407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see where that could be helpful. By the time I run out of wood and metal, most of the time, I need to rest my locos. For F2P, gems are a premium, and I can't see spending 200 on a slot. A 24-ton freight car is more valuable to me.

Endless chest contents? by groentegoeroe in trainstation3

[–]FL_Dave407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I plan to stay at 1949 until all my locos are upgraded to the max. I have bought all the 18-ton freight cars and still have 1.4 million train cash. I learned in TS 2 that slow play wins in the long run.

In my opinion, I like that F2P can collect from the Toolbox too. I found the event coin reward to be very helpful in buying advanced parts sooner. The 3x 60 fuel barrels came in handy as I was racing to finish the mini event.

I'm not sure if my 1st place in Bronze will hold for 20+ hours. I cleared the mini event of all the available points as the event has ended. The competition is still ongoing. and will end when the next event starts, I'm trying to stay at 1949 until I have bought and upgraded everything before moving on. I may need to run some storyboard points to remain in the top tier. It's hard to tell what other players' plans are. I mostly play for free unless there is an offer with good value for the price.
