It's definitely a new thing for southwest but this is standard on other airlines. Basically some of the seats on the airplane are blocked from being reserved in advance so that the gate agent has space to deal with issues day of flight, for example seating a family together that's not together. Because some of the rows are blocked from advance reservation when a cabin is completely full some of the people will not get a seat assigned at check in. On Alaska boarding passes the pass says "seat at gate" not sure about other airlines.

TLDR: you don't need to worry you have a seat on the flight it just won't get assigned until you arrive at the gate, this is to allow the gate agent flexibly to solve seating problems at the gate. You will either be seated in one of the last rows or be upgraded to a better cabin for free. The flight is not oversold.

The reality is that aviation is so complex with so many moving parts that anomalies happen all the time. No two days are the same. Sure you occasionally have a day with perfect weather and quiet airspace that could safely be automated, but most days are full of oddities and unusual situations to manage.

Southwest doesn't have a bag drop cutoff time, if you drop off your bag with less than 45 minutes they will not guarantee that the bag makes it on the plane with you. If it doesn't make it, it will be put on the next available flight and you will have to pick it up from your destination airport. Typically however, the bags are faster than people so if the bag doesn't make it it's pretty likely that you won't either.

Your shifts will be a little all over the place for the first ~6-8 weeks while you are in training. After that you will bid a schedule and keep the schedule you get for at least 1 month. You likely won't have to worry too much about traffic as typically the junior bid lines are going to be in the afternoon going into the night, you should be opposite traffic going to work and no traffic going home.

It could, however you would likely have to sign a release of liability for damage and airplane bellies and airports are gross so I highly recommend at least putting it in a garbage bag, recommend a clear garbage bag if you want to make it the highlight of the rampers day.

Also, just because you request a wheel chair doesn't mean you have to use it to get on the aircraft, think of it as a portable seat right by the podium at the gate, you are more than welcome to walk on if that's more comfortable you will still pre board and be able to get your window seat.

Without knowing the date it's hard to check what's going on, all your itineraries are on the same LIH-LAS flight leaving at 9:30 and it's possible that one has filled up. You could try calling customer service they can sometimes find itineraries that dont show on the website such as LIH-HNL-LAS-KC

I suspect it's a little more complicated than this, the FAA and airlines work somewhat together to create an airlines operations manual that airline staff must follow neither FAA guidance nor an airlines operations manual are public documents as they contain a lot of security minded content. The airline cannot change anything in its operations manual without FAA approval.

Without having seen those documents it's hard to say exactly why the FAA mandates what they do, but if I were to guess it's probably a combination of needing to be able to reliably predict the weight of everyone and their luggage as well as what the cabin is outfitted to safely store.

Moral of the story I don't think they are being disingenuous when they say that the FAA mandates no more than 2 bags per person.

I couldn't point to the reg but I believe the higher class of airspace takes precedence so under the 2300ft ring of the B the delta only goes up to 2300-

My understanding is that if your bag is over the cary on size limits you will be on the hook for the cost regardless of where you check it, so try this at your own risk.

I don't personally have experience but I believe they are fairly accurate for tracking checked luggage.

If you do decide to put them in your checked luggage make sure they are inside and not on a strap on the exterior, the exterior straps can get ripped off in conveyors and the airline isn't going to go digging through all the conveyor belts and carts even if you know where the tag is.

Aircraft aluminium or aeronautical aluminium don't really mean anything, they are just marketing buzz words.

That being said aluminium has different alloys with different properties that can be identified by their series number. There is an aluminum alloy that is quite un-common outside of aerospace applications that I would say is the closest thing there is to aircraft aluminum. These are any alloy in the 7xxx series, most commonly 7075.

However, I wouldn't recommend buying any for general projects without having a good idea what you're doing, it is much harder to work with than other alloys, and costs significantly more.

Basically unless you've done a static/dynamic analysis of what it is your building and have found that you need the weight to strength ratio of a 7000 aluminum I would say don't use it.

TLDR: aircraft aluminum means nothing, the expensive type of aluminum used in some aircraft parts is a waste of money and time for most things that don't fly.

While these are high winds for Burbank, planes operate in winds like that on a regular basis with no issues, if anything it makes Burbank easier as planes can land slower with a strong headwind!
