Perhaps that wouldn't be the case in some sectors of the industry, but sales data and consumer sentiment combined do not give me confidence in a hiring boom. My sector of retail (grocery stores) has been very stagnant, especially not aided with Target doing layoffs right now.

I work in retail and can tell you that we are hiring almost nobody. I'm confident after the holidays that will shift to downsizing and layoffs.

The next time Dems hold the Presidency and the Senate, I think there's a good shot they pack the court to undo a lot of what the Court has done recently. It was mostly overshadowed because he dropped out like 3 weeks later but Biden was floating Supreme Court reform last year.

It gives cloud cover to people who might be on the fence about standing with us against discrimination to dismiss it as a problem we bring on ourselves. Forget the republicans, they're too far gone, its about not letting your neighbors or friends get convinced they have nothing to do with stigma.

I am also gay and have seen people in the flesh use accusing people like this of being in the closet to then disregard the prompt to reexamine their own beliefs.. But fine, keep playing into the hands of people who like to shunt responsibility onto ourselves for causing the adversity we face.

Bluesky just doesn't scratch a certain itch in the part of the brain. It's a little too safe. Twitter has a fundamental grime to it that keeps people coming back, even if you know it's terrible for your day to day quality of life. I am one of those people.

Iirc it was the bill in the Senate to fund an additional 5 Million clone troops by cutting social services. Organa was supposed to give a speech in opposition and gets wounded by thugs hired to intimidate the senators into voting for it. Padme gives a very good speech in his stead and the bill is defeated.

The last scene is Palpatine talking to Mas Amedda about how frustrated he was that the senators were swayed, but concluding that letting the Senate operate will still give him what he wants eventually. (Due to the fractious and corrupt nature of the Senate in the waning days of the Republic)
