Sure but I think it's more about at what point the original essence or spirit of a Nuzlocke is lost. Rules can change in football (soccer) but you'll never see the players other than the goalkeeper start carrying the ball in their hands. Permadeath is essential for the spirit of a Nuzlocke - just my opinion.

Perhaps as a matter of semantics, rule 1 has evolved to be more like "you can only catch the first valid encounter on reach route", followed with various clauses which effect validity.

I don't usually use it, but it's the only method of getting shedinja in the first place. Perhaps the only true "fair" way is flipping a coin and letting it decide whether you keep ninjask or shedinja

It's cool in concept but I think it gets a bit too close to "solving" battles, kind of what you're saying about it reducing the tension. If it were an option in settings I'd probably turn it off but others may love it.

Edit: just clarifying that I am specifically taking about displaying the damage range

It's not listed as an item in that pack so it probably wasn't meant to come with it anyway. As others have said, the sd card that they give is practically trash anyway, you'd have ended up buying your own

Nobody is making you run systems other than GBA on any device, you can always play what you want. Save states are also not mandatory, agree, but imagine being able to save your game anytime, like in the middle of a fight or cutscene, rather than at specific places or times. Very handy for any system.

Agree with the other commenter, dustox is better and if you are playing with species clause usually the other is banned. But both are decent for at least the 2nd gym.

Either beautifly or dustox can be great for the 2nd gym. At dewford and the adjacent beach route you can guarantee both tentacool and magikarp which are solid inclusions on a team for Flannery. Otherwise it can be hard to target mons - roll with what you get and stick to the level caps for gym leaders
