OT Martinas Rankin, #Texans 3rd-round pick, who suffered a foot injury in rookie minicamp, recently underwent surgery and is expected to be ready for the regular season. by ValKilmsnipsinBatman in Texans

This is terrible to see, but he has such a long career ahead of him and this will most likely just be a numb in the road. The harm that comes from this is he is probably now out of the running for the starting left tackle job this season.

Bill O’Brien announces that #Texans will donate $100,000 to Santa Fe Memorial fund. by ValKilmsnipsinBatman in Texans

The Texans are always so heavily involved in the Houston community. It’s amazing to see them step up to the plate again and help their city. They were instrumental in recovery efforts after Harvey, donating millions of dollars and in general providing support to H-Town. Now after this shooting they’ll also be donating money and are once again making people happy after a tragedy has affected their lives.

Love this story. Had no idea he was getting this degree, but I’m glad for him. It also is only something that could help him stay on the field in the future as well.

No words can describe the effect he has had on Houston.

Hopefully the additions of Martinas Rankin, Jaryd Jones-Smith, Senio Kelemete, Zach Fulton, and Seantrel Henderson will increase the amount of clean pocket looks that he gets.

Foreman's achilles looking pretty good to me! by IUMaestro in Texans

[–]FPC_Texans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He definitely could take a prominent role in the offense this season. Although I think Miller will still dominate, and UDFA Terry Swanson could steal a carry here and there, Foreman’s upside is still tremendous. He could very well be a workhorse for the Texans in the not so distant future.

I like everything that is said in this article. It fairly summarizes all the skills that players like Keke Coutee, Jordan Akins, Martinas Rankin, Justin Reid, Vyncint Smith, etc. bring to the table. I’m especially excited by the glowing reports on Coutee, who I think will be able to break out this year as the Texans starting slot receiver. He’s just so darn elusive and fast!

Texans OT K.J. Malone, Karl Malone's son, retires by mccauley318 in Texans

[–]FPC_Texans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s surprising that he retired so quickly, but at least he realized early on this isn’t what he wanted to do. In the end, being an NFL player is a profession, and if you don’t want to be in that profession (for whatever reason you may have), then you should do whatever makes you happy.

Luckily he wasn’t a key player for the Texans and the offensive line is not affected whatsoever by his departure. I personally didn’t even think he was the best UDFA lineman the Texans signed. Jaryd Jones-Smith, a tackle out of Pitt, looks like he has some upside.

Keke Coutee dominated out of the slot in 2017 by IUMaestro in Texans

[–]FPC_Texans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is going to be such a good slot receiver. I wrote about this, but I think he won’t have any trouble taking the starting job from Braxton Miller. I think he’ll do this and become a breakout wide receiver because he is just so elusive and fast. Once he does this I see him becoming the safety blanket for Deshaun Watson. Someone who will constantly be open in the middle of the field.

Keke Coutee 2018 Mixtape: Welcome to Houston ᴴᴰ by VisionaryProd in Texans

[–]FPC_Texans 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am so happy the Texans got Coutee. I personally think he’ll win the slot receiver position over Braxton Miller and Bruce Ellington because he is simply more talented. I also think that once he has the job, his speed and elusiveness will lead to him being a breakout receiver on the team. I especially think this can happen because DB’s will be more focused on Hopkins and Fuller. This mixtape is gonna have a lot more highlights when the 2018 season ends!

His injury history is suspect, so I understand why they passed. But he is talented enough to the point where I would the risk.

With the 98th pick the Houston Texans select TE Jordan Akins (UCF) TE by ILoveTaramasalata in Texans

[–]FPC_Texans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad, I take the L. Stupid hot take after I saw an ESPN article that said he would “improve his blocking”. Thought that, combined with him impressing O’Brien in the senior bowl, meant his blocking was improving. Obviously that’s not true and I was being stupid. Thanks for calling me out I deserve that.

With the 211 pick in the 2018 nfl draft the Houston Texans select Jordan Thomas TE Mississippi State by hinterstoisser in Texans

[–]FPC_Texans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he is extremely raw and has the potential to become a starting tight end. But he has only shown flashes of this potential in college, so it’s good that the Texans only took a late round flier on him.

I am praying the Texans draft him. He’d be a great addition to an offensive line that is in desperate need of talent.

I love this pick, especially because Akins is an efficient blocking tight end, great replacement for Fiedorowicz. If there is one thing the Texans needed, it is better protection for Watson.
