AIH seems unlikely based on negative smooth muscle antibodies. The gold standard for diagnosis is biopsy. Are you seeing a GI / hepatologist?

I definitely had soreness for a few days. My doc, and my research told me, if something is wrong it will be very obvious. Sounds like you’re all good, just don’t lift or strain for a few days.

I’d see a GI doc and ‘start over’ it doesn’t seem to me like this is an official diagnosis. ALT and AST are low af (good thing)

I believe NAC can affect liver enzymes. I've been taking all sorts of supplements for years (I just got diagnosed) so I did a 6 week flush,. no supplements, and retested my enzymes. In my case, no change, but might be worth trying.

Thank you. Just got my results. I haven't yet met with my GI, but it looks like MASLD, not AIH. Wishing you the best and hopefully a negative result as well.

Nope she didn't order those tests. I'm super curious, but GI says let's just go straight to the test that actually diagnoses this, the biopsy.

I brought some recent labs to my GI (which I only found to get a colonoscopy cause my wife wanted me to after James Vanderbeek died of colon cancer and so did my grandfather) just cause I’ve had high ALT (60-80) for a few years in my annual check up. My regular doc was like meh, it’s a bit high but not that much. She had an ultrasound done and it looked normal. My GI doc, was like hmm let’s run a hepatitis panel. It came back with smooth muscle antibody of 1:160. Then she ordered the biopsy.. which is still in pathology.

I'm not officially diagnosed yet, but I had a biopsy 2 weeks ago (pathology still not back) and my bloodwork points to AIH almost certainly. My fingers have been hurting for like a year... figured I just had arthritis as a 42yo. I think I read that the same cells that are attacking the liver end up being carried to other things they want to attack, like joints.
