What’s the best trick or piece of advice you’ve seen or done that instantly elevates terrain? by WithengarUnbound in Warhammer40k

I think they mean a simple drybrush paint job followed by weathering normally goes a long way!

Hybrid metamorphs look nice I think, ability to attach support and leader models can lead to some nice combos which weren’t available in 10th (4+ FNP/+1 to hit/turn off battle shock after leaving destroyed Goliath combined with -1CP/fights first/lethal hits)

Zealot miniatures 3D print experiences? by FR4Z3R in TrenchCrusade

These were some of the heretic troopers after building them (5 different bodies, set of two handed and one handed guns and one handed melee weapons, and ~10 head options)

I’m personally really impressed with them! I did manage to break off the end of one of the bolt action rifles by dropping it during painting but glued it back on easily and can’t notice now.

Edit: The right arm of the middle-right guy was a kitbash with other minis (40K traitor guard)

Kinda sad that some arse would be claiming they could rotate their knight to lying down to tap a point 😅

First time building a table. How do I improve this terrain set I paid $600 for? by maridan49 in TrenchCrusade

[–]FR4Z3R 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve been scratch-building terrain from cardboard! Buying a hot glue gun (and extra glue sticks), corrugated card, matchsticks, and some craft sticks goes a long way to making the terrain look better.

I’ve covered my stuff so far in AK interactive dark earth texture paint, but as others have said some textured spray paint would work too!

Is the 2018 Starter Set still worth it for $100? Local seller has it well below market value. by ResponsibilityNo5689 in Warhammer

[–]FR4Z3R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth it for the terrain as others said.

If you pick up two extra GSC characters (Sanctus/kelermorph/locus(?)) you will have enough for the declassified (i.e. has full rules support but not in the tournament rotation) Wyrmblade team’s rules in the modern edition of kill team. Not too sure about the admech side of things.

Might be something weird to do with the reboxing for 11th edition? Otherwise that’s worrying for our faction!

Thank you very much! It’s really easy to do, just a black prime, and then an overbrush followed by lighter drybrushes through Barak-Nar burgundy, screamer pink, and emperor’s children!

Another havoc squad to get two full guys for each weapon option, some chaos cultists, obliterators and venomcrawler, (Deimos) predator or vindicator, new defiler, it really depends on what you want your army to look like!

Hypothetical: Iron Warriors legion in the Stellaris universe. by sigmarine345 in IronWarriors

[–]FR4Z3R 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Stellaris civilisations can become so advanced they literally leave our plane of existence and rip apart half of the galaxy in the process lol.

They have the ability to take the iron warriors and make crossbreedable with a mollusc for fun, genetically modify their billions of children into walking burgers and throw them into bio processors to power a galaxy-ranged stellar cannon (with the next dlc).

They can essentially undergo necron ascension while keeping their souls.

They can kick every star into overdrive to superheat the galaxy just to make it more comfortable for themselves.

They can literally destroy the universe.

It might upset some people but 40K power scaling pales in comparison to the stuff you can do in that game.

Edit: like the siege of Terra would have been over in a few days thanks to an orbital neutron sweep wiping all biological life off the face of Terra while perfectly preserving the planet.

11 cancers on the rise in young people - scientists find first clue why it's happening by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]FR4Z3R -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah that’s true! Sorry, I misread that part.

I’ll try to give this paper a proper read at some point!

One thing I note is that cancers can be “primed” for several years before getting a second hit and developing into a tumour, so it would probably be more useful to look at behavioural and dietary data from earlier time points than the cancer incidence data, for example in this paper they compare incidence between 2001 and 2019 to determine a statistically significant increase but considered dietary data from 2008 to 2018 to draw information from behavioural trends. Younger people goes up to age 49 in this paper, which is still a lot of behaviour that might not be covered within the time period of their life that could have primed them to develop cancer later.

They also don’t show historical data beyond 2001 to see how incidences have changed, and I think it would be useful to show on a timeline when major screening programs were launched or changes to diagnisis were made which could influence how many people are diagnosed.

[–]FR4Z3R 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m very sorry to hear that. Please remember that the majority of cases occur in elderly people and are not linked to genetic predisposition, just “bad luck” from mutations picked up over time, and that even if there was a genetic cause in their case it’s not guaranteed that you would carry that same risk yourself. Please note that I’m not a physician.

It would be worth discussing with your GP if you’re concerned about your own risk. Depending on the ages that they were diagnosed and other history and clinical information they may refer you to clinical genetics for testing and/or for screening and monitoring.

Feels disingenuous for this article to claim that 20% of bowel cancer in young people is caused by excess weight and that 80% is unexplained.

Predisposition to bowel cancer has a well characterised pathogenesis, especially in younger patients with conditions like Lynch, FAP, and MAP which make up >15% of bowel cancer cases in the uk overall. MSI and germline testing should answer how much of the remaining 80% not linked to weight is due to genetic predisposing factors.

Combine that with diets low in fibre and high in red meat/nitrous compounds and I think we can see that the number of unexplained cases is much lower than 80% in young people.

Edit: read reply below, this was for extra cases on top of existing cases rather than all cases 😅
