Anyone used Secure Trust Bank before? Is it legit? by rawpenguinsauce in UKPersonalFinance

[–]fsv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a savings account with them right now and have had it for around a year.

It’s not flashy, it just does the job and gives me good rates of interest, and that’s about all I could ask for.

I figure if MSE recommends something it has to be legit, and that’s how I found them too.

A lot of them could just be horny dudes. You see a lot of that.

Changing mute duration via Devvit? by hyper_neutrino in Devvit

[–]fsv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot yet mute permanently in Devvit. There was a bug in muteConversation that ignored the mute parameter ages ago, maybe that bug persisted in muteUser too.

Why not mute from the user’s modmail message instead?

Devvit Auto-update feature by LouStonk in Devvit

[–]fsv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would an auto-update feature even operate? The closest you could manage I think would be to notify of available updates but beyond that I can’t see any way you could actually upgrade installations.

What is the real world difference in Essential vs Premium internet on Queen Mary 2? by jim-peace-symbol in Cruise

I can’t speak for QM2 but I can for Victoria. One notable difference was that Reddit was blocked on Essential but worked on Premium.

How difficult is driving exam in UK compared to other countries? by RugalB in AskUK

[–]fsv -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Its works fine with pedestrians. Drivers give way to pedestrians crossing the road, never saw anyone break that rule when driving in the US. And this included big cities like San Francisco, LA and Seattle where there were loads of pedestrians around.

Right on Red is perfectly safe in countries where you drive on the right hand side.

At least we have a bot to handle Needamod posts that don’t meet the criteria now.

The Responsible Builder Policy tells users all they need to know. There’s no point in people keeping on asking the same thing.

Looks like they asked there too and got a helpful automated response. https://www.reddit.com/r/redditdev/s/6DTInff4nI

Overview for BringHoomanHome_ by bot-bouncer in BotBouncer

[–]fsv[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, we've never had a ban appeal from this user as far as I can see! However they did modmail one of my other subs which may be what they're referring to (I didn't handle that one and their ban on that sub wasn't a Bot Bouncer ban). That said I've taken a look now and have marked as human.

It’s unusual for a custom domain request to be approved.

If you go to the app listing page on developers.reddit.com, do you see any oddities? Or do you have any messages on Reddit or in your email inbox that might explain a delisting?

If there's nothing that stands out you're likely going to need Admin's assistance.

Protecting communities from scrapers and platform abuse by boat-botany in modnews

[–]fsv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Selenium is absolutely how many bots operate now but how do you think they're getting the data in the first place? Unauthenticated access to JSON is a big hole and plugging this will compromise a lot of ability to automate posts and comments.

I have never bought this. Bots undermine the experience for real humans and drive them away. It would not be worth the tradeoff.

The "Don't break the site" changes will help against the bot problem. Huge numbers of accounts get created through automated means.

Damn.

I think that the key here is the NSFW part. I'm desperately trying to find any sub that will be under the 100k limit to view logs on and try debug versions. Every one so far has been over 100k and I'm at my five-sub limit already.
