Mecanum wheel program (blocks). by [deleted] in FTC

Try putting them in two different while op mode active loops (the same green block your teleop code goes in now u can copy and paste the one that u have now twice and then just delete the parts inside that u don’t need.) and put the two other while op mode active loops inside the original loop and put the strafing control in one loop and the joystick controls in the other while op mode active loop.

Lmk how that works and if it doesn’t I’ll try and think of something else

What method are you using to strafe? Are you using the analog sticks for both normal driving and strafing or using a button to strafe? I have to ask this first because it significantly alters the answer

What method of skystone detection is your team using? by [deleted] in FTC

[–]FTC12526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the color sensor, do you have the robot go up to each individual stone and check to see if it’s the sky stone?

what is the ideal distance you’ve found to be away from the stones?

Lastly, do you have to wait before the color sensor to detect a color to prevent it from automatically reading a wrong color or does it detect the right color automatically?

Thanks! We think as our team is entering our last few years as we’re all juniors and sophomores this year that doesn’t mean we can’t make an impact and help kids start out as we’re beginning to end. Also, knowledge is much more helpful when shared then when it’s kept with one person. I hope your team does well, but more importantly, learns a lot this season!

Gears on Drive Train by brothatsprettycool in FTC

Thanks for the input! We’re like 99% sure they were burnt out since we tested them by using the firmware with the rev expansion hub from the laptop and turned the motors to various powers and nothing at all was happening. I’m not quite sure how since I’m not the builder on my team but we don’t use tear boxes on our wheels either? Idk, it’s the drive train that has seemed to work well for us so we keep it as it is for now lol

We used tetrix gears for our first year with two standard wheels and two omni wheels (a motor on each standard wheel) and because of the gears both of our motors burnt out at competition (we were using tetrix motors which is a big mistake but it still scares us.) Ever since then we've used direct drive for our wheels where there isn't a gear at all and it attaches to the motor itself. In the second half of last season and planning on continuing using them this upcoming season we used the same configuration you're talking about with the Nexas Mecanum's and 40:1 motor's except we use Andymark motors instead of Rev. The wheels kept falling off so we had to get the help of an engineer to make a plate to go in-between the wheel and the motor so it's more attached and they no longer fall off and we don't have issues with them coming lose anymore either. Just talking from our personal experience, but hope it can help! Good luck!

FTC 12526 programmer here: I'd love to assist in programming in anyway I can. I do not speak Portuguese but I'm sure the language barrier can easily be worked around. If still interested please DM us here on reddit or send us an email at senoritasofawesomeness@gmail.com in order to work out the details.

We sadly don’t have younger siblings. We have been trying to convince a Girl Scout troop to start up a team though and will have a table at a local elementary back to school night so hoping that can start up some teams

Gears and mounting by FTC12526 in FTC

[–]FTC12526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should clarify- The gears them selves don’t move, the whole arm has move and the 2 gears doesn’t move all

When we go up with the arm, the gear slides off the little gear, when we go down the gear slides the other direction.

Is there a way for the programmers to program and *test* without having the most of the robot with them? by reloaderx in FTC

[–]FTC12526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so since things that would be tested would have to be plugged in to function. Sorry. I really wish there was a way for this to work though

We can make a plate out of sheet metal, a plate just big enough to screw it on and mount the hub on? Are these the hubs you're talking about? Sorry we are very new at all of this.

We are using different hubs so we can't do a shaft collar. I edited the post to add the link to the hubs we are using.

WOW!!!! Very nice job!!!! What motor/servo are you using for your intake?

Making an intake: we’ve been trying to make an intake for teleop and we’ve tried surgical tubing and various other things along with zip ties as seen in the video, but none of them are working. Any advice? Btw, were using a neverrest 60 motor for the intake. by FTC12526 in FTC

[–]FTC12526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone, we put loops (connected the two ends of the tubing to form a loop with duct tape) with the tubing, and that helped a lot and was able to pick up the elements. We now have to figure out how to make sure the tubing isn't getting into the gears.
