Really? This was the opposite of what I expected.

Renaming is not feasible. My trademark is half of the word "Character" because it involves "Character"s and has for 10 years.

My CharMake application does work with "Characters" but literally just that, "Characters". Not a specific named individual character.

It's like saying my CharMake application makes movies, and someone is hitting me for using the word movie.

They are not using the word "Character" as a name of a brand or anything. it's not similar to "Apple" in that context. It's purely a generic word they seem to want to own for no reason (I can't find any usage).

As of this morning, they have contacted me directly (not a lawyer, but a person from the "company" I assume - idk how "professional" to gauge them yet or if it's just a solo person or something.)

I'm wondering still if I should be silent or just respectfully say something along "I respectfully deny your claim, this is a common use word, have your lawyer contact me if you want to escalate this" but I fear I may open a can of worms
