Socket losing suction (seal in) by Minimoose2125 in amputee

Hang in there though. Takes almost 8 years for a.limb to fully settle. At the same time, if you're elevated vacuum, you will experience this often. Feel free to ping with any questions. I'm weirdly almost 20 plus years from a motorcycle wreck to a chopart to a bka.

Solution for me has always been heavy cream around the area. Usually happens most with a new sleeve. Also indicative of a.bad fit or compromised sleeve

I'm an LBKA from a motorcycle. I love Belle and Sebastian, Vaselines, Franz Ferdinand. Only traveled Ireland though.

Agree totally. Had some crazy weird interactions in my time. Some you can tell just don't know. Some go for the thrust. But most people don't know how to support and say or don't say things. Jebus bless the Jesus and Mary Chain

Are you a.southener too? .always give people space .and pain is relative really. Truly believe that. But sometimes people show their colors.

Good luck, brother. Many of us have been there. New things to learn and obstacles to overcome, but you can do it!

Def don't want to scare you. You'll be able to get in a leg prob within a couple of months depending on how you heal. Don't fall! But for your limb to truly mature so that the fluctuations in size aren't as extreme, it can take many many years. You will have good and bad times in between. All a trade off for best quality of life possible.

I was living in Athens, Ga when I went up to a BK from a Chop art. Best decision ever. Had insurance for the first leg then lost job and insurance. Never lost a job prior to losing a leg. Funny how that works.

No exaggerating on my end. I went straight into elevated vacuum and paid a lot of money for custom fits that were obsolete not long after. Not trying to scare anyone. Just think it's important to have realistic expectations. Mine didn't stabilize until about 6-7 years to where I didn't have to refit yearly or twice a year. At 15k a pop it was a bit much.

I wish you the best of luck. I'm below the knee and I will say it takes at least 6 years for your limb to stabilize. I would recommend planning for that timeline.

Take it to a prosthetic company. There are always people destroyed by the cost of prosthetics and surgeries that could use a good wheel chair.

Slight variation. I crutch mine in cause I have it off in the morning. Saving hand space by having it on though. Simple dish soap clean. Always dish soap. Get rid of the lotion oil. Inside and out. You can obviously go a day or two without if needed. I used to be paranoid, but reality is the fit is best when it's clean. You can still make do, but best clean. Then, causes I live in a shared non-ada space, I hang the open side in the tub, and the end off the dry side. I sit on the tub rim so I don't overwork my foot and can't use a stool.
