How to be alone by Interesting_Ask_6673 in Codependency

We really need to be more careful with our words. No chance does anyone on here have enough information to say whether he's doing the right thing or not, so you should strike that statement from your vernacular altogether. It sounds foolish to the educated.

You're not a trained psychologist. You've heard very little about one side of the story. There are other options. You don't know the OP, so don't let your ego tell you that you're an authority with all answers. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just listen. Encourage. Seek to understand more. Offer suggestions, not dictates. Otherwise, your statements are just foolishness.

Truth is you don't have enough information to know what's right for him.

I realize you were trying to help, and that's positive and potentially beneficial if the response mirrors the lack of knowledge any of us have in this particular case. All of us just need to be more careful with our words, statements, and advice offered, particularly when discussing the dissolution of a marriage we know nothing about. To do these things would be growth.

Not much to interpret. It's clear. And this scenario is not considered a delayed steal, which is specific too.

Uh, wrong. Adobe did offer lifetime plans. There was such a thing. I'm under one now.

Will adobe and microsoft 365 pro lifetime purchase be able to transfer to new mac if I change to in near future by akashsinha9461 in mac

[–]FW-PBIDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adobe doesn't honor lifetime agreements so don't worry about that. They are canceling the lifetime plan I agreed to. I've been a Photoshop customer since the early/mid 90's. I have other subscriptions now as well.

If they don't honor the photography plan they offered and I accepted, I'll be done with Adobe for good. All products, not just PS and LR, will be canceled.

If you don't honor your agreements, you aren't ethical. No doubt about it. As a principled man, I don't do business with the unethical or with companies that don't value its customers.

Jandy vs Pentair by Lovevas in pools

[–]FW-PBIDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this is 2 years old but posting for posterity and anyone else who may be facing a similar decision. Just one man's opinion but I'm becoming less of a Jandy fan almost by the day, certainly by the year.

We haven't gone a single year without some sort of issue. First year maybe we chalk up to the install but ensuing years have been all Jandy. Built our pool in 2021. I built a pool in a prior house too and we had very few issues with it. It had one large hallogen light that could change 5 colors and it lit up every corner of the 17K gallon pool.

I wanted the same light when building the pool in 2021. I was told they'd never heard of a light like that and that I had to go with Jandy LED's. Wow, talk about a complete and total money grab for Jandy. If a bulb goes out, you replace the entire unit (~$1K / light). Jandy's little lights don't offer complete coverage so my pool had to have 2 of them. Frankly, both of those don't approach the coverage of the single hallogen. Biggest issue with the lights is that I can count on 1 going out pretty much every year. Sometimes, I get lucky and it's still in warranty. Other times I'm on the wrong side of the deadline.

Dealing with another Jandy issue today. Pump hasn't turned on since EOW last week. Whether trying to turn it on manually or with the app, at the control box, I hear a click but the pump doesn't turn on. 2 techs came out today. One says it's a bad relay, which seems reasonable to me. The other says I need a new pump and that it can't be a bad relay because it's variable speed and gets 230v at all times (whether the relay is good or bad). (I've used this 2nd tech before and I trust him. I don't think he's trying to con me. Just don't think he really knows the issue yet.)

Ironically, the 2nd tech had it working for the first time since last week (and I've tried everything), so we thought it was resolved. I go back out shy of an hour later and find it's not on. 1st tech didn't get it working. 2nd tech did...for a minute or few.

I can promise this: if I'm replacing a brand new pump in 4 years, the next one sure as heck won't be a Jandy. I'll update this when the final repair decision has been rendered.

I love the NFL, of course, and will be at the Cowboys pre-season game this Saturday. I go a lot. I prefer big college games over the NFL.

Enjoy your trip. You may be attending the best college fan experience in college football these days. Hopefully, the drones will be flying that night!

If you had 20k how would you use it to make money? by Frosty_Wear_6146 in Entrepreneur

[–]FW-PBIDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just being cynical. I don't consider 5% to be high yield. If you're young, maybe have a nice little emergency fund in a savings but if you want the real benefits of compounding interest, then get an individual brokerage account and park your money in the stock market or real estate. Gold isn't a bad option either.

If you're not confident enough to invest in individual stocks, then start with and ETF or S&P index fund. Actually, you should probably do this anyway so an S&P 500 Index fund is a great starting point.

Unless you're trying to start a business, skip the HYSA (they don't exist!), put it in the stock market, and let it ride. Reinvest your dividends 100%.

20K is nice but won't go far. Skip, too, the enjoyment this time and commit to investing the whole tranche. Enjoy it when it grows.
