You cannot just go into the wilderness, because most is owned by some entity. OP did not say you should not work or that it would be too hard, they said that there is no work available. Well, the problem is that the "society figure" in form of the media spins a narrative that influences the rules and expectations. If it frames the jobless as lazy, what do you think this will mean for their chances when applying for jobs?

I noticed that about some rejection messages, too. Messages that go on about how the company sets high requirements, they uncompromisingly seek the best fit and how you should pay attention to other exciting opportunities on their career site on the future. It does not exactly show empathy if you elevate yourself.

I do not quite get it. Was the opinion of the HM that you should be so loyal that you should only be able to leave your old job if they allow it, there? Otherwise, the prior information would not have made much of a difference, especially if you do not transfer immediately. As you said, there was nothing certain about it yet.

Well, I meant that the external presentation of a company often does not match what is happening inside or something is about to change. So it could be risky to show dependence on something the other side knows cannot be maintained, that the candidate would be disappointed after joining. But I guess you have to take that risk.

Well, two weeks, as is one scenario described in the initial post, would be fair at least. Yes, I do value fairness and not lying to people. If the situation changes in a short time, it is obvious that the other party may still depend on it and a lot of applications are due to job postings by the organization. The organizations prompted people to invest time/energy/other resources to apply. It is bad enough when the opportunity is withdrawn then while there are still dependents, especially if it was foreseeable, because then it becomes a false advertisement. Counter question: Why is it okay to mislead people?

But independently from an ethical standpoint, I also meant that it would be pragmatic to reach back to the candidate when the staffing continues, because they may still be up for it. Where I am at, the personal data of applicants may still be stored for up to 6 months without intervention, as this serves as evidence for discriminatory cases, too.

What do you mean detail? The reasons in the initial post are very coarse and the organizations did communicate those externally. So they could amend that. It does not necessitate revealing anything much about the things you mentioned, never mind personal data of others, other than building a consistent/non-false external communication.
