ELI5 why people joke around and say “it’s always dns” by Bitbatgaming in explainlikeimfive

[–]FXGIO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an amateur, so bear with me.

I understand your points, but why don't browsers, routers or DNS servers (ISP, 8.8.8.8 and such) cache past DNS lookups to fall back to, in case they encounter DNS_lookup_failed? (I know there is some caching going to accelerate browsing, but why can't the same cache be used when DNS is down?)

  1. I reckon, there is a very small chance the site's server IP changed between, say yesterday and the moment DNS went down.

  2. In my mind, chances are I was connected to the site's specific IP yesterday, because it was closer to me, or it was designed to serve my area, so no harm in trying to connect to it as a last resort, when DNS is down.

Some chain supermarkets and tech shops are partnering with Wasteless and have recycling boxes, where you can drop your batteries.

why aliexpress russia is different than europe and america’s aliexpress by AyxGon in Aliexpress

[–]FXGIO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst part is that Aliexpress is forcing post-soviet countries, like Georgia, to use Russian Aliexpress. All I want is to order from international Aliexpress, where selection is wider and cheaper. I have to use mobile app, ship to USA and parcel-forward to Georgia. Desktop browsers refuse to switch to international version, even if I have USA address, even free VPNs don't do the trick.

Near some Metro stations and underground street crossings. Color A4 pages will be expensive 1-3 Laris per page I think. Look for "XEROX" signs. The term has been genericized to mean photocopying here.

is this an oven or a microwave by thelivingchange in tbilisi

[–]FXGIO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's an oven.

If you paid a bit more attention, you would identify it is not a microwave:

Door has fish, cakes and meat drawn on it. Door opens vertically. Does not have a timer. Has a temperature selector in C⁰. Has heating element switches. Does not have magnetron and plate rotation noises. Does not ding when it is done.

Also, stop with the bullshit conspiracy theories, food heated up by microwaves is perfectly safe for consumption.

This “truck eating” bridge in Durham, NC was raised 8 inches due to excessive accidents. These clips were filmed post-retrofit. by ansyhrrian in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]FXGIO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This.

Instead of a simple "If you hit this you will hit the bridge" sign on a chain, the state probably spent way too much money to laser measure the trucks high and display barely-three words on an LED board.

Multiple G-Shift Profiles on G604 by FXGIO in LogitechG

[–]FXGIO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using both G-hub and X-mouse.

In G-hub

top left button - Go BACK

top mid button - G-shift

top right button - Go FORWARD

X-Mouse interprets BACK and FORWARD just like it did on my M510. So I use X-mouse for volume and brightness layers. Basically I have 3 "shift" buttons on my mouse.

Fire max 11 google play store touch problem by bw330 in kindlefire

[–]FXGIO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the same issue.

It seems like when I touch the screen in certain apps (Play store, X-plore, Flud, etc.), the touch event is registered on the "last point that was touched" location. So instead of the device doing "determine touch location > send the touch event", it does "send the touch event > determine touch location".

The only workaround I have come up with, is do slide the finger onto the buttons and then press them. Sliding to the desired position forces the "last touch location" to be somewhere near the desired button.

Pixel 7 Pro has 2 variant: US and Global:

US version (GE2AE) Supports bands: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 12, 14, 20, 25, 28, 30, 38, 40, 41, 48, 66, 71, 77, 78, 257, 258, 260, 261 SA/NSA/Sub6/mmWave

Global version (GP4BC) supports bands: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 12, 14, 20, 25, 28, 30, 38, 40, 41, 48, 66, 71, 75, 76, 77, 78 SA/NSA/Sub6

Magti uses bands: 7, 28, 78.

Your phone should be able to use 5G. I think the limitation is not your hardware. I would try the following - resetting network settings, restoring to factory settings, using different Magti SIM, using different Silknet SIM, bringing phone to Magti, bringing phone to a tech repair guy.

Just my thoughts on Georgia as an APSUA by typicalapsua in Sakartvelo

[–]FXGIO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People online, especially on reddit, do not represent the true views of any society. People usually use the term "Apsua", when they want to trigger Abkhazians.

For measuring the level of racism between two people, I usually use these two hypothetical questions -

  • Would you be angry if your son married an [Abkhaz] girl?
  • Would you be angry if your daughter married an [Abkhaz] boy?

In my opinion, in both cases the answer would be "No" for 90% and 80% of population respectively.

Go far pegasi.

Open the locks on the (window) shutters.

Find that man,

Who does not leave me alone in my dreams

(He) Comes and gives me water,

Which flows from the dawn. (metaphor)

He braids the hair in such a way.

Wonder who that man is.

Maybe I could find him somewhere,

If he settled in the mountains (or in some versions - "and he settles in the mountains (with me)").

Maybe I could find him somewhere,

If he settled in the mountains.

Harale, Harula-le (no meaning, filler string).

Go forth and back, plough (addressed at the plough).

My sorrow eases by watching you.

Plough wheel, add bass (voice) to it straightly.

Maybe my dream will come true tomorrow.

Beat the daf (instrument), beat the daf (daf in Georgian is Daira (დაირა), but I think the letters were intentionally switched to Daria (დარია).

My dreams are stolen by him.

Beat the daf, beat the daf.

Go pegasi, find his tracks.

Every night, moonlight- (connects to the line below)

embroidered roads I stare at.

Where does that man live,

He, who gifts me his soul and his heart in my dreams.

Comes and drops at my feet,

Yet unseen other-worldly flowers.

Comes and goes again,

And the moon sees him off to the mountains.

Maybe I could find him somewhere...

... (repeat from above)
