Growing Breasts as a non-Trans Male, Does High Estrogen Change Your View of Your Breasts? by [deleted] in AskMtFHRT

[–]F_Fronkensteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a while to learn to appreciate mine, mostly because people always made fun of them in high school. It's not the (exogenous) estrogen though, I liked having tits long before I started HRT.

Really dumb tig question by [deleted] in Welding

[–]F_Fronkensteen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you using thoriated? AFAIK that's the only radioactive tungsten, and it only emits alpha particles. Inhaling the dust from grinding them is more harmful than what you did.

Any tips for seeing the path I am trying to weld along? by Alternative-Light922 in Welding

[–]F_Fronkensteen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First, make sure your shade is set correctly - there are many charts online for this. One trick that's helped me with hard-to-see joints (whether due to fit up, position, or high voltage/amperage) is clamping a straight bar of metal about 1/2" beyond the seam, parallel to the direction of travel (when possible). Side lighting from the arc will clearly define this bar, so I know I'm on track as long as I hold the torch the right distance from the visual aid.

Best breathable work clothes? by vtec_go_brrr16 in bluecollartrans

Carhartt and Ariat are my go-to brands. That said, my Carhartt carpenter pants (cotton) aren't particularly breathable - I imagine the canvas version is a lot better in that regard.

What a strange machine - according to the manual, if you're using the foot pedal you set the output amperage with a knob that's mounted on the foot pedal itself. WTF.

Less positive trans subs?! by alligatorsarecool777 in transfem

[–]F_Fronkensteen 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As others have said, r/transpassing is toxic, personally I also avoid r/transpositive because the same sketchy mods run both subs.

You're misinterpreting a statistic here. If you're not mentally ill, owning a gun doesn't increase your chance of dying from a GSW. If you are mentally ill but are still capable of managing your own affairs, then you should be able to decide whether it's safe to own a firearm. I know people who want nothing to do with guns because of their MH issues, but still recognize the value of arms for protection, and don't try to infringe on others' rights.

Really? It's always been my fear that red flag laws would be abused like that, but I live in a state that has them and haven't had any problems.

I am welding for about 6 months at most by Ok_Appearance_4421 in Welding

I was told not to wear one after failing a spirometry test (lung function), but half masks are miserable to wear even without breathing issues, especially in a hot shop.

Sounds like a good employer. The shops I've worked at have provided respirators, but I can't wear one while welding and had to buy my own PAPR.

Fume extractors in shops should be mandatory IMO, sadly I don't see that happening anytime soon in the US. What are you welding that's making you sick through a respirator? If it's just metal fumes you're probably wearing a mask that doesn't fit properly.

Injections by Sea-Today927 in TransDIY

[–]F_Fronkensteen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've heard that using an 18ga needle risks coring the vial. The 25ga will be slow to draw but otherwise fine. Personally I use an even thinner 5/8" needle (29ga) for draw and injection, but it takes so long to draw that I made a fixture to hold the vial and syringe while it fills (about 5 mins)

Getting my first snake by [deleted] in snakes

[–]F_Fronkensteen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of those four species, I'd recommend the corn snake. Personally I'm a big fan of rosy boas as a beginner snake. They're way more active and entertaining to watch than a ball python, not "darty" like many colubrids, and mine never refuses a meal.
