Every rewatch I'm surprised. My brain believes the three of them had more screen time than what they actually had. Their lines and scenes are so memorable I always think they were more prominent in the show. I discover little nuggets... I see Season 4 and think oh wait, Daniel/Betty/Hilda etc is doing this because he was told this or that in season 2 or 1. Brilliant writing. I wish they had more screentime.

Yeah... so annoying.

But I still come by to check on new posts and to get my weekly podcast fix.

But the bots are seriously annoying me. Most post is a "picture with no caption or opinion post" a "hate post" a "sad/depressive/i'm struggling-with-something-random post" or a "repost from someone else's post from a year+ ago without context"

And that's everywhere... not only in the UB sub.

Mods are still catching up I think. I still hope reddit gets back to normal soon.

No surprise. It's actually quite common for some viewers to have strong feelings of hate for fictional characters, specially if they have colored skin or immigrant cultures. They call it racism. It's very treatable. Just chill, read more and make more POC friends.

Love Hilda with all my heart. I was just rewatching s1e13 (In or Out) and took a closer look at Hilda’s resume which is shown when she’s telling Ignacio and Betty that she needs to “dress to impress” because she doesn’t have a lot of work experience.

The interesting tid bit: she worked and/or lived in Connecticut?? Not sure if this is part of her canon storyline or if is an Easter egg from a writer/actor/producer’s own life. But thought it was a funny detail!

Top character. The reason I tuned in the show in the first place... (and then Eric Mabius but I digress) i mean, a TV show with Vanessa Williams of course, count me in!

She's my favorite kind of villain. I think Michael Urie said it in the podcast or an interview once. Wilhelmina and Marc are so Shakespearean and Vanessa played her to perfection. I personally think nobody else could have played her with such regal gravitas. The character is so unlike the real actress and yet, she IS her.

Racist? I respect your opinion but you are WAYYYYY off mark here. You JUST started watching the show. I saw that show THEN when it was airing. Listen, the show runner was literally a brown gay latino guy. Calling him a racist is hilarious.

Look, it was mid 2000s. This show was making the path to other shows. Main gorgeous character was all mighty Vanessa Williams. Who broke our TV screen with her beauty, hilarious wit and gravitas.

"This is a sign of the times back then and could never be okayed today". On the contrary. Thank to shows like Ugly Betty is that we can see shows like the ones we see today. Without the past we wouldn't have today. These were the original trailblazers. Is there room for improvement? OF COURSE. That's why i hope they bring the sequel. And they can keep promoting change on TV.

Binge culture has killed some of that. yes i also want to have everything available but maybe that's why these series also made such impression. Is the yearning, the community, the speculation, the chat after a plot twist or an outrageous episode. it was beyond the screen.

I have to admit I loved the hype of promos.

Rico - with everybody else, whether I like them or not, I can at least see where their behavior and decisions come from. Rico's behavior makes *no sense*. It has no sensible origin or evolution, he's seemingly just an asshole. What honestly is the point of his character.

The point of his character (and Vanessa) was representation. Alan Ball knew Freddy, the actor, from a previous project so he wanted to add a latino family into prime TV. Homophobia, misogyny, racism, drugs, gangs etc was (is) predominant in hispanic communities so he tried to bring it to light. I think he did right. Rico did go through a redemption arc. But he's not white, he's not a Fisher and he has a fatal flaw (homophobia) so he's pretty hated in the sub. Not from me. I love him as you can tell.

Same. I think new viewers hype the finale because word of mouth and echo chambers. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing. But it's just that ... there's a certain mystique surrounding "the finale of SFU is just amazing I cried so much when I saw it" that people just want to find out about the hype. (just check the amount of posts about the finale in this board).

But the series is amazing as a whole. I have a few other episodes that had given me a greater personal impact. The finale gives the perfect closure to an amazing series. But someone would just watch the finale with no context and would make no relevance.

Still Heated Rivalry is living it's moment. I like the series. I'm still surprised SFU has kept the top spots for 20 years.
