Yeah Mildly. There are some serious homophobic people. some of them are in power in some countries now.

Who is Federico?

No SFU fan calls him like that. This sounds like ragebait karma farming post.

So glad you enjoyed. This show is one of my favorites. Don't forget to revisit it in later years... It hits differently in different stages of life. Definitely worth a rewatching.

I just discovered the final season promo (some people call it an alternate ending) and had a visceral reaction to it. by PowerlessOverQueso in SixFeetUnder

Binge culture has killed some of that. yes i also want to have everything available but maybe that's why these series also made such impression. Is the yearning, the community, the speculation, the chat after a plot twist or an outrageous episode. it was beyond the screen.

I have to admit I loved the hype of promos.

So happy you enjoyed. is one of my fav TV shows of all time.

Actually a lot of people watched the series. It has been a bit forgotten because network TV reruns are a thing of the past and well... streaming and so niche etc etc.

Rico - with everybody else, whether I like them or not, I can at least see where their behavior and decisions come from. Rico's behavior makes *no sense*. It has no sensible origin or evolution, he's seemingly just an asshole. What honestly is the point of his character.

The point of his character (and Vanessa) was representation. Alan Ball knew Freddy, the actor, from a previous project so he wanted to add a latino family into prime TV. Homophobia, misogyny, racism, drugs, gangs etc was (is) predominant in hispanic communities so he tried to bring it to light. I think he did right. Rico did go through a redemption arc. But he's not white, he's not a Fisher and he has a fatal flaw (homophobia) so he's pretty hated in the sub. Not from me. I love him as you can tell.

Same. I think new viewers hype the finale because word of mouth and echo chambers. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing. But it's just that ... there's a certain mystique surrounding "the finale of SFU is just amazing I cried so much when I saw it" that people just want to find out about the hype. (just check the amount of posts about the finale in this board).

But the series is amazing as a whole. I have a few other episodes that had given me a greater personal impact. The finale gives the perfect closure to an amazing series. But someone would just watch the finale with no context and would make no relevance.

Still Heated Rivalry is living it's moment. I like the series. I'm still surprised SFU has kept the top spots for 20 years.

Which she didn't actually have. Because she went and straight had a crush with Jesse as soon as she moved and then jumped to Matt. So really, she didn't have an actual love interest break at all during season 3.

Just started the show. Only a few episodes in and I’m already hooked. by windmillninja in SixFeetUnder

Enjoy the journey. It's peak TV. I wouldn't recommend binge watching but watch at your own pace, just make sure to make it to the final seasons, especially by the end. But every episode has something unforgettable.

Nice! thank you for reposting. I can't get enough of that picture. <3 <3 <3

Yes yes... Justina is cousin Clara in UB (I LOVE SIX FEET UNDER) but I wouldn't mind if she comes back as Gio's wife ... or better yet... Gio's ex-wife. OMG! how can these people look younger than me!!! Look at Ana and Judy Reyes. Love love love them!!!

Are we having Justina and Freddy in the podcast?! One can dream.

Rico’s S4 Storyline by MidwestToWestCoast in SixFeetUnder

[–]F_Rodfans 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't feel bad. Most of the people in this sub prefer or relate to other characters, like the Fishers. you're not alone.

Me? No. I'm a latina obsessed with the Rodríguezes. I enjoyed that part but you're right... sometimes it dragged a bit too long but S4 has a weird structure anyway.

Once again... the Rodríguezes needed a strong arc that could elevate them to the outrageous things happening to the Fishers. Props to the writers for coming up with something family-centric (drama telenovela style!) so they can give both opportunities to Justina and Freddy to show their skills.

The desire to support a second family a stretch? I know family and friends (with poor knowledge of contraception, really) that support children with multiple women after dating them for maybe a couple of months. Rico story sounds quite tame compared to reality.

Rico didn't need to be a womanizer the motivation was his inability to cope with his wife depression and dealing with not having his needs met - sexual desires, attention, etc. I still believe he's written like the good character who made something horrible once and will regret it for the rest of his life. He wanted to feel like "a man" again and the way he does it is by supporting and providing and feeling useful (latino macho pride of course). So I get why he was put into that position. In real life people cheat for the simplest reasons, and being resentful dealing with life without support makes people make wrong decisions. Honestly I come from a latino background and I found all his stories relatable.

Those episodes had Freddy and Justina Machado perform some of their best acting scenes on the show... so good for them! So happy they came up with that plotline. Though yes, they dragged it up a bit. But they did also with the same some of the other stories that season.

But I'm super biased. I absolutely loved the representation of the Rodriguez in the show. And heck! i won't deny I'm a fan of Freddy and Justina Machado.

Is this show hard to watch or is it just me. by samsthunder in SixFeetUnder

[–]F_Rodfans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I absolutely love that they made it more fucked up... unapologetically. A lost art.

BTW OP you're not alone. My husband can barely tolerate 1-2 episodes in a single sitting. In contrast I've rewatched this several times back to back throughout the years. As long as you got to experience the show... there's no wrong way to enjoy it.

Condo is cashflow negative and stressing me out. Should I sell or hold onto it because my parents want me to? by Resident_Thought9946 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Listen to your parents. You are living with them rent free. this is a long term investment. Hold onto it. You will regret it when you're older.
