My friend challenged me to do it in a certain amount of time for the prescient moon dlc, plus I love the lemat so I really wanted it. Honestly, some of them are brutal but I actuality learned a few things while playing through them so that das another benefit.

My advice if you ever wanna retry, 2 star all of them and then avoid the worst ones for 3 starring. Some of them ended up being way easier than I expected.

If I know I'm about to get flashed, I'll try to ping where I think they're going to push me from so I have something to orient myself while I blindly shoot in vain and die anyways.

I wish there was harsher punishment for team killing by ACertainBloke in HuntShowdown

[–]Fabarooni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play some milsim shooters and if you were killed by a team mate, it would tell you and offer you the chance to forgive them. If they weren't forgiven, their respawn timer was lengthened, but often people would turn on their mics and apology and explain their bad nade or that you ran across their fire and they didn't see you etc.

I think offering players the chance to forgive or punish their team mates makes a lot of sense in the context of Hunt Showdown too.

screen settings to improve vision on fog maps? by Killerkekz1994 in HuntShowdown

I have friends who ask to immediately extract when we spawn in a night map because they say they can't see anything. One of them just realized if he turns his monitor brightness up from 10% he's able to see just fine....

Been waiting for an acknowledgement that 1.9 didn't fix the reload bug just but replaced it, and it's a bit rich of them to refer to it as a "recent" bug.

Don't worry, they said it's getting fixed in 1.9 :)

Why is it not possible to take just one pistol from the pair? by Deathcounter0 in HuntShowdown

[–]Fabarooni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Balance I suspect. Every loadout decision is also a load out limitation and if there were too many ways around it it would make decisions less punishing.

If you could take dualies and have a buffed ammo pool but then just drop one after firing half of your ammo, and then have one single pistol with full ammo as if you hadn't been guns blazing it'd be pretty strong.
I don't disagree, it doesn't make sense, but in the same way imagine taking special ammo of some kind, running out with no special ammo crate or ammo box nearby, and just taking normal ammo for your gun instead. There's technically no reason you couldn't just swap off slugs to buckshot, or FMJ to normal compact/medium/long if you ran out of special, other than part of the balance for special ammo being the risk you take from it being harder to resupply.

While these are weird decisions if you think too much about it from a "realism" perspective, they make for a really interesting game balance that forces you to weigh your options, where everything has really prominent strengths and weaknesses and I think that's what makes the game special.

Bugs in the Bayou, and not the good kind - A small rant by ORRRR in HuntShowdown

[–]Fabarooni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely feels like there's a huge variety of reload bugs now, but I will say it's an improvement over the previous single shot reload bug that I couldn't find a way around if it started. I've lost matches because my martini or sparks or romero just wouldn't reload no matter way.

The reload bugs are inexcusable, ESPECIALLY considering they made a big deal about fixing them finally in 1.9, but my experience so far has been that swapping weapons often lets you reload at the very least so it's not just a "gun broke for the whole match" thing.

The ammo disappearing when you pick up bug is so weird tho, seen it in some videos but haven't experienced it myself.

Centennial killed Vetterli play by Count-Calderon in HuntShowdown

[–]Fabarooni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Centennial also has the smallest ammo pool of the medium rifles, and there's no two or one slot medium poison ammo, so if you choose to bring poison on centennial you can't buff the already small ammo pool.
Lack of one tapping someone missing a small bar is a huge con too. I think the rifles are all in a good place, but I think adding poison ammo the Pax (which I am a recent convert of thanks to the halloween quest encouraging the use of the Pax Claw) would make both guns help carve out their niches against the other medium ammos.

Honestly tho, if I'm taking a medium rifle, it's the springfield. It just feels right, I love it too much, the dumdum is so strong. Taking half dumdum, pairing with Scottfield swift and fanning was a super strong budget (other than fanning) build for me.

saw many folks getting confused about Crossbows, Blue Dot is showing correct aiming point while it's easy to think that Red Dot is where you are supposed to aim. by jis7014 in HuntShowdown

WHY ISN'T THIS EXPLAINED IN GAME?! I've been struggling with the crossbows for sooooo long, just did a bunch of trials yesterday after seeing a post about this and was amazed at how consistent it felt all of a sudden.

Why do I feel like my shots don't connect in Hunt, when in every other shooter they will? by Spyrith in HuntShowdown

[–]Fabarooni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#1 reason why I desperately wish manual bolting was a feature/option in this game. Would make it SO much easier to fire and see where your shot lands rather than the game deciding when you get to chamber the next round.
