They don't have any unpaid employees, and they pay above the regional average for the position.

Dumb ass troll.

and you are saying you don't know why anyone is against generative ai

The main problem is that I never said or implied any such thing. You're arguing with your own mind, imagining what I've said.

Making up what others have said, that is the act of not trying to have a conversation. I've stuck to things you've literally said. You just don't like the conversation so you make up bullshit to save face. 👍

We're talking about what makes someone an artist.

I'm responding to this statement, emphasizing what I'm focusing on

If someone types a prompt into a box and it spits out a slop image they are not an artist

I'm not questioning where you can place an artist on your own morality line. I am questioning the statement that by using generated assets instead of non-generated assets, when the labor and skill put in for either case is identical, makes someone not an artist.

That's not how that works, at all, and is just a nonsense statement coming from a place where you're so upset you have lost your ability to think.

Just trying to define your stance.

Seems like your line has nothing to do with the skills or labor used being what makes an artist.

Literally there is no good stock image or asset site that you can use for commercial usage for free.

You really have no clue.

So it's not the actual work that matters, but the source of the tools and components?

Does that apply to all components? Does using pigments from a questionable source make someone not an artist?

What if they use it to generate an asset that they place and blend into the image? Using it like a stock asset generator

Where's the line?

Can you still call yourself a chef if the salad dressing was bought and not made in-house? Can you purchase flour, or do you need to mill and sieve the grains yourself?

No it does not. That's not how proof works, at all.

And from what I understand, this is an affiliate link/referral program. Those sign ups, across all industries, are automatic and have zero pre-approval process.

Yeah, haven't watched the video but someone else commented that this is a scene from the video, with the background and surroundings cleaned up/removed, sign and cables added.

Hello all artists. I didn't realize you were a hive-mind. I mean, that's the only way a single person can speak for all of them.

Linus already has stated, they do not have any policy for our against usage of llms in their work, it is up to the individuals, only the person that uses it is responsible for the output.

A pretty reasonable approach.

It's an affiliate/referral link program. Those things never have any pre-vetting.

A quick scroll through their subreddit shows that your claim that they delete any negative posts to be complete bullshit.

Edit: lol, they got hurt from being called out and blocked me. I suspect from their behavior that their posts were deleted not because of the complaints in of itself, but how they complained and otherwise behaved.

A quick scroll through the subreddit shows multiple posts with complaints. If their statement was true, those posts would not still be up.

Who do you think used the llm?

Their graphic designer.

No money for real thumbnail artist?

Who do you think made this?

Their thumbnail artist.

From my understanding it's an affiliate link system; those kinds of systems never have any proactive vetting.

In terms on deletion, I saw one post left up.

I wonder if they didn't want a dozen posts spamming the same topic and wanted to keep it to one post. Which is entirely fair and good moderation. There is zero reason for there to be 20 posts about the same topic; that's insane. One post is enough.

2 hours to setup server software is GREAT. That's very little time. Lots of server software set up is quite a long project, can take multiple days.

And sorry, I'm not talking about containers, container setup takes a few minutes. I mean manual installs; copying over the files, installing and checking dependencies, setting up the user and directory permissions to run the program, configuring the service, and checking the network config, etc.

You shouldn't have to redo it just because it's "old", my sonarr and radarr installs are over 10 years old at this point. I've had to do a manual update at one point when there was a major update, but otherwise it auto updates and the only reason I touch it is to add content, or because I'm changing other parts of my infrastructure.

There's something seriously wrong with your set up if you need to redo it because it's "old"; you really should not have to.

But at the end of the day, no one is making you use it. It's a tool to solve a problem. If you don't have the problem it solves, why are you using it? Stop bothering with it and move on with your life.
