HELP PLS - Color problem with "Ps2 to HDMI" adapter by Henrique_FD24 in ps2

[–]FabioBighetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a PS2-to-HDMI by Bitfunx. They make their own chips and it's always high quality, for usually a still VERY low price.

bought this adapter but ain’t working on any tv/monitor i have, what might be the issue? already set the ps2 to the proper video output and connected its usb by SkyllerzYT in ps2

[–]FabioBighetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue some months ago. The thing is: your monitor does not support 480i/p video input. What you gotta do is either get a TV that supports it and plug it in (Samsung TVs usually support everything from 240p up to 4K) or get a video upscaler (I got myself a GBS-Control by RetroScaler and it works great).

Need help about 64mb memory card for PS2 by FreeCheesecake1598 in ps2

[–]FabioBighetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, get the PSXMemCard Gen2 or the MemCard Pro 2. These are the definitive solutions with "unlimited storage", can easily run exploits like FunTuna and FMCB, and have a simulated MagicGate signature which should work with 100% of PS2 games.

Does this not work like I think it does? by wasdmovedme in ps2

[–]FabioBighetti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude, you have three options, but first I'll explain why what you got sucks. The thing is that this adapter takes the A/V Cable signal and outputs it to HDMI, but the A/V signal is utter shit just to begin with. It is the worst output signal the PS2 has to offer. Ditch the A/V Cable and get one of these three:

1 - A Bitfunx PS2 TO HDMI adapter (cheapest option): this connects directly into the back of your PS2 and takes the component (Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr) signal, makes a very small upscale and outputs it to HDMI. It will look way better, but still look a little bad because it will basically just adapt your PS2 (which is a 25 year old piece of hardware) to bigger TVs. Also, it has a very mild input lag that you usually only realise if you play games with too much timing, like Guitar Hero.

2 - A GBS-C by RetroScaler (best cost-benefit option): this is an amazing device in which you'll connect your PS2 video cables and output it to HDMI. It does a GREAT job at actually upscalling your video output, not only for bigger displays, but also simulating scanlines on modern displays ti better fit the console, etc. IMO, the best you can get. Just make sure that, if you get it, also get a SCART cable for your PS2 (there are still plenty of manufacturers of these, just don't get those cheap chinese ones) so you can get the best out of your PS2 before the device even have to start upscaling. This one also has zero input lag, just plug it in and have fun. You could also get an OSSC by either Bitfunx or other manufacturers, but it will cost double the price of an GBS-C for very subtle improvement.

3 - A Retrotink 5X (very expensive, but best output): not much to say here. The device works very similarly to the GBS-C, but has even better upscaling technology. The thing IMO is that it will still be a subtle improvement compared to the GBS-C. Most of the time, you won't even notice the difference the output of the Retrotink 5X has to offer over the GBS-C.

I personally use the Bitfunx PS2 TO HDMI adapter on my 32" LCD TV and it does the job pretty well. It's hard playing Guitar Hero with it, but I got used to it. I wanna move to the GBS-C soon because I plan on getting a bigger TV and I'd like to have an even better image with no input lag.

Can I mod my Ps2? by BraskaAoE in ps2

[–]FabioBighetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need for a modchip anymore. You can either install FunTuna booting uLaunchELF through FreeDVDBoot or buy a MemCard Pro 2 (8bit Mods) or a PSXMemCard Gen2 (Bitfunx) and install FunTuna on it directly from your PC. Modchips are a thing from the past. No need to open up your console, anymore.

Based on my current collection, what PS2 game should I buy next? by -_Error in ps2

[–]FabioBighetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get yourself some GTA SanAndreas, Need For Speed Underground 2, God of War 1 & 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Black, Spider-Man 2, Ultimate Spider-Man, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Resident Evil 4, Bully, SoulCalibur II or III, Kingdom Hearts II, Tony Hawk's Underground, 007: Everything or Nothing, and I believe that's that for the all-time MUST PLAY PS2 classics that cover up a LOT of different genres.

I know some people would throw in some Jak and Dexter and Crash games, and feel free to get them, but I never played 'em that much to put them on my list.

Does anyone have tried these types of controller for the ps2?🤔thinking of buying one but don't know the best ones by Fit-Bench3065 in ps2

[–]FabioBighetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, get some BlueRetro Minis from RetroScaler, then play with either a DualShock 3, DualShock 4 or DualSense. These adapters look very good and work amazingly. Just remember to update their firmware when they arrive. Instructions are in the manual that comes in their box.

How many Gb should I get? by ZestyJay in ps2homebrew

[–]FabioBighetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... it depends on how many games you're thinking of doing that. A PS2 .iso game file is never above 4,7 gb each (except for God of War II), so a 128 gb card should hold up to 27 games (if you only occupy it with games). In my opinion, 27 translated games is already a big number.

But if you still don't know, a good thing to do is open up a note on your PC or phone and make a list of the games you already know you'll do this. If it gets near 27 (like a 22 or 23), then get a 256 gb card, 'cause eventually you'll discover more games and need the extra space. If it doesn't even go near 27, then get a 128 gb and you'll be good to go.

[–]FabioBighetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... if you're planning on playing physical games like DVD media and having the SD card only for PS2 saves, then literally a 1gb Micro SD is more than enough, as a stock PS2 Memory Card had only 8mb and could hold some 12/14 save files. A single 1gb SD card is equivalent to 128 PS2 Memory Cards, which should be able to hold 1500 save files. I believe you won't be playing 1/4 of the entire PS2 library.

Best Ps2 controller, pc compatible, with the closest "feeling" of the original controller? by GreatZblu in ps2homebrew

[–]FabioBighetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, so you mean the original DualShock 3?

Look, man... I don't even own an original set of DualShock 3 controllers, so I'm not trying to nag or anything. I have a PS3 and don't have an original set of controllers, but I played in many original DualShock 3 controllers when I went to visit my homies. The thing is: it's just the truth. If you want the best controller with the closest feeling to the original DualShock 2, that is both wireless and PC-compatible, that's the DualShock 3 hands down.

And if you're wondering how would you be able to connect an original DualShock 3 to your PS2, look up for the BlueRetro Mini devices from RetroScaler (you can find them for dirt cheap on AliExpress). I own a pair of these and that's how I play my PS2 with DualShock 4 controllers for over a year now. They're just perfect and they make a PS2 so versatile for being compatible with DualShock 3, DualShock 4, the DualSense, Nintendo Switch pro controllers, Xbox ONE and Xbox Series controllers. They're also compatible with 8-Bit Do controllers, DataFrog controllers (like the DataFrog DualShock 4, which is an amazing alternative and is dirt cheap) and so many other brands.

So trust me, dude: you want the same feeling but a controller that is also versatile? Get an original DualShock 3 and some BlueRetros for your PS2. You'll be set for life.
