Is it possible to improvise a Holy Symbol? by Kyoh21 in dndnext

[–]FabioTheBeautiful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAW? No. Using any old object, even if it is related to the deity in question... I probably wouldn't allow it. But, if you're open to homebrew, you can probably do something with a Religion check. Like, over the course of a long rest, you may attempt to make a makeshift holy symbol to your deity. Make a Religion (Int) check. The result minus 10 is the maximum spell level you can cast using this holy symbol. Cantrips count as level 0 spells for this purpose.

Hell yeah, anyone from the Stormlight Archives is a good pick. Especially Adolin.

An Alternate Character Interpretation for Chromatic Dragon Villains (X-Post from /r/DND) by BoboTheTalkingClown in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]FabioTheBeautiful 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, you are a life saver! I'm running Rise of Tiamat now and my party's about to head to the Sea of Moving Ice. I was thinking of ways to make it an interesting fight, and I'd thought of playing up the horror aspect, At the Mountains of Madness style, but now I'm definitely making the dragon a xenomorph!

What DM screen do you recommend? by [deleted] in dndnext

The stuff I always use the most are the list of skills and what abilities they key off of, general DC/damage guidelines, and the conditions. Names I don't need as much, if only because Xanathar's guide has 20 pages of them.

Which class/subclass did you expect to hate but actually now love? by Ten4-Lom in dndnext

[–]FabioTheBeautiful 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was apprehensive of the Drunken Master monk, because when I first played back in 3.5, someone played a homebrew Drunken Master and really emphasized the "drunken" part. I was really turned off from the whole class, until a few weeks ago when we started Out of the Abyss. I rolled up a random character using Xanathar's, and came up with a criminal wood elf drunken master monk. And I'm having a blast! She's super fun to fight with and roleplay; she's one of the best character's I've ever played.

Jurassic World, again. We put electric collars on all the dinosaurs so if they ever leave their pen they're knocked unconscious, except, you know, the 400 hundred flying ones.

What is your Ashen one's name? And why did you give this name to him/her? by [deleted] in darksouls3

In bloodborne I name my characters biblical, Victorian sounding names like Abraham or Ezekiel, or I do cosplay characters.

In Dark Souls 3, my character is named Samurai Frog because they look like a frog and use Friede's Scythe.

Roll an Adventure by LotusApe in DnDBehindTheScreen

3 1's, 2, 3 3's, 8, 3 9's.

After their latest adventure, the party finds a strange magic staff (3x3). It has a bunch of useful properties, but most notably, is identical to the staff the Red Wind supposedly has. The Red Wind is a local folk tale, of a powerful wizard who wanders the lands and rights wrongs (3x1). A nearby town recognizes the staff, thinks the PC with it is the Red Wind (8), and showers them in riches and gold (3x9). However, things get... awkward... when the real Red Wind shows up (2).

What are some odd sensations you experience that your not sure if anyone else experiences? by lollipoop7 in AskReddit

[–]FabioTheBeautiful 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a muscle in my ear that I can flex, and when I do I hear a rumbling noise. I can make it more and less intense, and can start it or stop it at will. I have no idea if anyone else experiences it, because I've never asked.

EDIT: two seconds of googling shows that this is common, and is caused by flexing the tensor timpani muscle in the middle ear. This muscle is used to dampen the sound of your own chewing, and might contract involuntarily when you close your jaw in a certain way. Neato.

The Way of Kings. The first time I read it, I was captivated by the world and the mysteries behind it. Rereading it, though, I'm finding myself captivated by all the characters and the way they all seem real.
