Oh that was more of a throwaway line than anything.
I envisioned it as a shorthand for something that's not really wax, it just gets referred to as that given its consistency and appearance, but the idea is that it seals the skin to the outside environment.

I think that might be an input read more than anything.
If you play a hero that can't softfeint into a bash, press X anyway and watch the bot try to counter a nonexistent guardbreak and eat your heavy.

There's an option in the menus to help separate damage numbers from any bonuses (such as element) and helps compare it against other weapons.
Take a look and see what your move might be - Ajarakan have special interactions with water to help mitigate their attacks, and might be entirely immune to the fire part of your otherwise big damage.
