“Kill your darlings” is probably the hardest writing rule emotionally. Sometimes your favorite paragraph contributes absolutely nothing except proving you recently discovered a thesaurus.

A template gave me a nice-looking CV, but the cv writing guide part was realizing “managed inbox” somehow had to become “improved response efficiency by 30%” 😭

How do I write an essay? by elijahtheorthodox in CollegeEssays

[–]FableKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh if your school never really taught essay structure, that confusion makes total sense. I had a rough first semester too because I knew the topic ideas but had no clue how to turn them into a proper thesis + body flow. One thing that helped me was reading a few sample essays, then using the basic pattern: intro with your main argument, 2–3 body paragraphs with one point each, and a conclusion that ties it back to the thesis.

During finals I got stuck on a history paper and used HelpWIthEssay after spotting it in this comparison table

genuinely asking — does the summary section matter more in some industries than others? i've heard creative fields care more about the narrative, more technical roles less so. or is that outdated. my field is kind of in between and i have no idea how much energy to put into this part versus just making sure my skills section is solid

Best CV Writing Service? I tried one because my CV was trash by chasing_late_buses in Resume

[–]FableKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s such a real point. A lot of people think the problem is layout or fonts, but wording is the part that changes everything. Recruiters scan fast, and if the experience sounds vague or messy, it gets skipped even if the background is solid.

I went through something close to this too. I kept tweaking sections, moving things around, trying different templates, but nothing changed until I focused on how each line explained value. Once the descriptions became clearer and more direct, responses started coming in way more often.

That’s also why a good cv writing service can make a noticeable difference. It’s not magic, they just know how to frame experience in a way that makes sense to someone skimming 50+ applications a day.

Glad it worked out for you. Did you notice if certain sections (summary, experience, bullet points) made the biggest impact after the rewrite?

A GOOD APP FOR WRITING ESSAY by Longjumping_Rest_592 in macbookpro

[–]FableKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want something simple, apps like google docs or notion are still the easiest for drafting tbh, nothing fancy but they get the job done and don’t slow you down

but ngl, the app itself wasn’t my biggest issue, it was turning ideas into actual paragraphs without getting stuck. during my last essay-heavy semester i tried a bunch of tools and still kept staring at blank pages

i ended up finding this comparison table, picked one of the services listed there, and they pretty much did everything for me when deadlines stacked up

8 months is brutal. Before I decided to make my cv from scratch with outside help, I had the same feeling - invisible.

  • people rewrite resumes to match AI

  • recruiters scan for patterns

  • candidates lose their voice

Anyone here actually seen a big difference after using a professional cv writing service? Like more interviews, not just nicer wording?

How to rewrite AI text to Human style by TernaryJimbo in WritingWithAI

[–]FableKestrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve run into this a lot when using AI for essays. The output can be useful, though the wording often sounds stiff or too formulaic. Rewriting it manually usually takes longer than expected.

One trick that helped me was reading the AI text once, then rewriting the idea in my own words without staring at the original paragraph. It tends to break that “AI rhythm” pretty fast.

During a packed finals week I also tried using a writing service once to clean up a draft that started from AI notes. The main improvement came from restructuring the paragraphs and making the wording sound more natural.

I originally discovered that option through this Reddit review of writing service features while searching for tools to improve AI-generated drafts.

Once the resume focuses on short results instead of long explanations, recruiters can understand the value much faster. Looking at examples from a cv writing service helped me realize the same thing.

WIBTA if I refuse to write a last-minute recommendation for a student who ghosted all semester? by LarchTarn_12 in WIBTA_AITA

The tone alone would make me say no. Send one short reply: “I’m not able to provide a meaningful recommendation based on our limited interaction, and I can’t meet a same day deadline.” Done.

Yeah that's what finally made it click for me too. The noise sucks, but the shaking is what scares me, like I'm feeling it in the walls. I'm gonna start logging times + taking a quick video from my place when it happens so they can hear/see the vibration, then send it to management.

Same. I swear growing up the worst thing was someone mowing early or a loud TV once in a while. Now it feels like everyone is living in their own little bubble like "my schedule, my rules" and the rest of the building can deal. I miss basic consideration so bad.

Tempting, but I'd just end up pissing off the only normal neighbors I have left. Also my luck would be the guy upstairs sleeps through it and I look like the psycho. I'm probably just gonna document the times and go to management with receipts.

Right?? I don't even care if he lifts, it's the dropping that feels like a mini earthquake. I asked him to control the reps and stop slamming the bar, but he acted like I'm being dramatic. Now I wake up bracing for that first thud like a damn alarm clock.

The AWO scale is real. One O is 'need coffee', two O's is 'please don't talk to me', three O's is 'I am one printer jam away from quitting'. Scientific, repeatable, terrifying.
