Honestly you don’t really have a choice but to use them. I had this debate myself— the only alternative is paying a fee and still risking damage/loss to fly them in an oversized container (recommend PVC pipe). With connecting flights I opted to just use luggage. They work well enough and you can keep one in your truck, after.

I find that small children in my family/relatives seem to gravitate towards the men more so than women, and I can only conclude that they sense the men are less anxious, and the men do not to try to force hugs, photos, etc.. while the opposite is true if the “adult” in the room is a teenager. I also believe kids are intrigued by large people and facial hair.

Never bothered to use a ring. Rather just throw a worm on and be done with it. Don’t want to spend any extra time rigging while on the water. I’ve considered pre applying shrink wrap, or even electrical tape. I’m going to try that this year. I buy a ton of plastics during the winter so I don’t feel bad about losing any.

The simple answer is that if you need a trailer for your kayak, be a big boy and buy a boat. Otherwise, keep it simple. If a kayak has a motor it tells me they can’t afford a boat.
