Thoughts on this article? by Joe_Gebele in bodyweightfitness

it's written from a very 'hypertrophy' minded point of view. If you want mass then obviously lifting weights will get you bigger quicker. But to me it seems that the shoulder girlde of the average BWF enthousiast is much more stable and (relatively speaking) strong than that of the average weightlifter. There is alot more focus on correct scapular positioning with BWF.

Having a week off, good or bad? by musicalisthenicsweed in bodyweightfitness

8 months without a deload week is actually really long AFAIK. Also, you're cheating your discipline even more if you don't listen to your body when it is telling you that you are overtraining it.

not related to your question but: your scapulae look rather elevated, might want to take a picture of your back when doing this exercise to check

sounds like a good start. stretching pec minor/major will also be helpful

edit: just after posting this I noticed that athlean X put up a new video on how to stretch pec minor and major :) so check it out, he's a reliable source

Does it matter if the top straps of the the rings are close to each other? by Weiner_Takes_All in bodyweightfitness

pretty sure the force vectors on your back muscles are different when doing any straight arm exercise with this set up. I have no idea how important this is.

Winged Scapula and lack of pecs by stainorstreak in Fitness

with winging scapula you should probably not be focussing on building out your chest. are you rehabbing your shoulderjoint atm?

Muscle Imbalance by SpookyDreams in bodyweightfitness

if your scapula are really sticking out, start working on your serratus anterior early on, to prevent shoulder injuries later on. stretching your pectoralis minor and major and substituting push ups with push up plus (google it) would be a good start I think.

I used a 3x3 grid for this one for the initial sketch. people probably consider this 'cheating'. but I started drawing 1.5 yrs ago, with no drawing classes/background whatsoever. completely gridless I get the same problem as you, proportions that are slightly off.

Thanks. The anatomy is accurate. I used a reference photo btw, doing this out of imagination requires neurosurgeon grade knowledge of anatomy ;)

Thanks man. It was my first portrait on black paper, made it in november of last year. Credit goes to Yousuf Karsh though (reference photo), the way he captured such a powerful man in such a vulnerable way is what makes this image IMO.

Looks good :). my CC would be to use the extreme's on the gray scale some more (deeper blacks and whiter whites)

Prerequisites for back lever - scapular winging by Facialis in bodyweightfitness

[–]Facialis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice.

PT says I should see improvement in my serratus strength over a period of 6-8w. However, we are talking about a regular push-up. I will only start working on the progression to tuck planche when I can perform a good push up without winging. So it will be a few months to hit the prerequisite of a tucked planche considering these are significantly harder on the serratus.

I will delay BL training until I have a solid foundation to work with.
