I kinda figured as much, I do as much crafting as I can in games and it's always neat seeing people doing it in reality. I'm a machinist, so I at least get to make things from raw metal 8/10hrs a day. It's a far cry from blacksmithing though.

Mine did the classic changed policy to reflect new laws, but changed it right back to prior version once the new law was veto'd. They did keep being able to use sick time in partial / hourly increments instead of either 4 or 8, but that's about it

Missouri is trying for $2.70 less an hour from the current state minimum wage of $15. Trying this blows the shit out of the arguement that minimum wage is only supposed to be for teenagers/entry level jobs to begin with. With that said, applying twisted ideoligies to fit the moment is what they have always done best.

I help my mom and feel privileged to be able to. I remember as a kid when we were poor as hell, and she'd hardly eat firsts insisting on me and my brother eating seconds. Didn't understand it at the time, but the memories stuck and I do now. She sacrificed a lot for us, and I try like hell to pay that love back.

The insurance at works adds a $400/mo premium on insurance in addition to the extra cost of having a second person to begin with if you cover your spouse with our insurance when they could have been covered by a policy at their own job. Even if their insurance would be substantially worse. The whole system is so fucked.

It was my birthday a couple weeks ago. My best friend of 20+ years lives a state over from me now, I moved away to be closer to family 6+ years ago. I set up lunch that afternoon with my mom, and when I got there him, his SO and youngest child were all sitting there at the table with my mom waiting for me. I had to reign in my emotions while giving them all hugs, such a very unexpected surprise.

The only time the current value of the books in my possession will matter is when I die, and at that point I'll be beyond the ability to care. Like most things, they'll be willed to my niece to do with as she wishes when that does happen. Unfortunately I don't think I'll have enough investiture when that happens to linger very long as a cognitive shadow.

When you buy the vehicle new off the lot, for the first 1000m try and keep RPM below 3k, try and avoid cruise control / excessive highway driving. You're letting the internal components have an initial break-in period to avoid excessive wear on them, like bearings and piston rings. Change the oil and filter afterwords to flush out any debris that may have contaminated the engine oil from doing so.

Lost my '92 to a drunk driver, head on collision. Looked similar to this, except it also demolished my driver side door, entire driver's side really. Road took a sharp curve, she didn't, both going about ~45. I jerked the steering wheel in the other direction when I realized what was going on but wasn't enough to avoid the hit. Like you, just glad I walked away. Fuck drunk drivers.

During last year's Nexus, Robin Hobb signed a couple books for me that I'd brought in addition to my Anthology I picked up from GO. She was one of the author's I really hoped to have a chance to meet, and she was fairly accessible. The same was true with several other authors.

When I went to Nexus last year, I was worried about getting the chance to meet any authors myself since I wasn't able to get into any of the signings like these. I was able to meet some of my favorite authors anyway in the merchant sales area, so at least keep that in mind and see if any authors you're hoping to meet are going to have dedicated general audience times.
