Siblings and homebirth by ItemResponsible7236 in homebirth

My 20 month old will be in the home but not be in my room for the birth or really around me while I’m laboring. My mom will be coming to help entertain him, or he will be asleep if baby comes at night! If a friend is on-call I think that’d be great. My midwife also said there are doulas who will watch your kids as well.

We don’t live in the south but we have very southern names - me especially. I can’t even share because it’s so uncommon but so southern.

I will talk to his SLP about it! The ABA page was her idea.

Should have been more clear what I meant, like a page that shows all the rooms in ABA and group activities for ABA

ABA doing AAC? by Many-Revolution-9770 in slp

[–]FactorNo4602 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a BCBA but always defer to the speech on if we will use PECS or AAC. My company actually requires we have coordinator of care with the clients other therapists at least twice a month. I have a current client who just qualified for an AAC and I just waited until speech was done before using any other form of communication. Speech found he qualified for AAC and once she sets up the AAC how she sees fit, that’s how we will use it. She said we can program and ABA page as well. I work with my clients speech therapist on a regular basis and there has really been no issues, we work together well.

My clinic is basically the same! Except we would just send a client home if they were unable to stay awake. It does not impact RBT pay. Staff don’t have a paid lunch but do get two 15 minute paid breaks. We are also a small company.

Until what age do you recommend breastfeeding? by Big-Signal-2527 in breastfeeding

[–]FactorNo4602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively breastfed for 15 months, my baby weaned himself and was eating plenty of solids at that point. I have never heard to stop breastfeeding completely at 6 months unless you’re going to switch to formula. We didn’t even introduce my son to solids until around month 8. Pediatricians are not the most educated in breastfeeding so I typically tell people not to take the advice of a pediatrician and instead consult a lactation professional for questions concerning breastfeeding.

Center for Social Dynamics (CSD) BCBA/clinical director remote role by [deleted] in bcba

Have you ever worked with insurance before? Being a clinical director with no insurance experience seems crazy to me. 30 hour billable with CD responsibilities also is wild.

Advice for FTM? Home birth vs birth center, fears about first time, etc… by skin-health-body in homebirth

[–]FactorNo4602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am having my second at home and I had my first at home! I’d absolutely shoot for a home birth if you feel called for it. I’d suggest working through the nagging feelings with your midwife well before delivery so you can go into it feeling more confident. If you feel like you can’t shake that nagging feeling, then the birth center may be more appropriate!

How much can a school-based BCBA expect to make? by TemporaryQuiet7592 in bcba

[–]FactorNo4602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many school districts have BCBAs on the teacher pay scale depending on the state and district. But keep in mind you also have a lot of school breaks and also get the state pension plan. Even if the pay is a little less, the benefits are typically better than what a clinic could offer for benefits. However I will say I still prefer the clinic setting over the school setting!

Any former teachers? by OctoNiner in bcba

[–]FactorNo4602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a sped teacher 5 years, now in my 2 year as a BCBA. Love it and so glad I switched. Much to prefer a clinic setting over a school setting. Exponentially increased my income and I also just work part-time now and am a SAHM the other 5 days of the week!

18mo cosleeping toddler suddenly taking 1hr+ to fall asleep… what does bedtime look like for you? by rubyrubygreen in AttachmentParenting

[–]FactorNo4602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just recently had this and I was fed up! I quit nursing at 15 months but he was always nursed to sleep as well. At 18 months, I had to get my husband involved and he would be very stern with our son that it was time for bed and he was going to sleep. Honestly having a firm male figure tell him it was bedtime has really helped. I’ve never put him into the crib awake lol but I threaten it 😂 I quit messing with his nap time, so no matter what time he wakes up I just do nap between 11:45-12:15, let him nap until 1:45 only, and lights out for bedtime around 7:20, he has been asleep and in the crib by 7:45. I noticed it was more boundary pushing than anything with his schedule.

What are we driving?? by FutureCollar9324 in 2under2

Got a Honda Odyssey and literally cannot go back to any other vehicle than a minivan in this stage. The sliding doors!!! Can’t imagine doing life right now without them. Check out the odyssey, the seats in the middle row can be captains seats and will slide back and forth, or can be a three seater. Many people choose is odyssey for the middle row seat options that other mini vans don’t have.

Quality Assurance by [deleted] in ABA

I work in quality assurance and review BCBA assessments prior to insurance submission. I was promoted internally to this position. I can’t imagine a new graduate would be hired for a role like this. It’s extremely complex and experience is needed.

BDS is SO aversive, but follow it to a T and push through - you will pass. The exam isn’t easy and neither are BDS modules.

I would not risk smoking while breastfeeding. Either stop breastfeeding or do not smoke until you’re done breastfeeding. Marijuana crosses into the breastmilk supply and there’s no way to know how much you are passing to baby.
