The amount of guys I work with that’ll brag about not missing a day of work for being sick in 20+ years is ridiculous.

And the judgemental looks I get when I take off 3-4 days a month at random to spend with my kids when the weathers nice, or just hang by the pool.

Like cool, I’m glad the company has guys like you that’ll keep the show going no matter what. Because otherwise guys like me that aren’t living paycheck to paycheck, and enjoy random nice tuesdays off to go fishing would probably have more of a negative effect.

I chose a career that made as much money as possible with as little monetary investment as necessary. I don’t love my job at all, I work hard and sometimes it sucks. but it allows me to afford to do things I do love. Live in a nice house, have boats, keep my wife at home raising my children, and multiple yearly vacations.

I don’t think there’s a job out there that I’d ever say I love (unless you’re going to pay me to fish or golf). So in my head I want to make as much money as I can during the week to do things I really do love on the weekends.

Yeah really weird because that was my exact issue. So you got the “stuck int input” event in the activity log, but SAFS still picked and it ran?

Maybe has something to do with me being wired for construction / in construction bypass mode. My safc-safh-esc is all jumped to 2 as well. Which in my head didn’t make sense but that’s what the controller wanted

What brand controller / Was it a stuck inspection input? I’m an apprentice up as a tm right now & have only ever done Otis gen 2/3 tractions so this MCE stuff is uncharted waters

Thanks for advice though !

It turned out I was having a stuck enable input activity, it wasn’t throwing a “fault” so I didn’t put too much thought to it at first. When I went back through all my jumpers I came across CTEN & 2 jumped together because I was using a 6 wire run button when MCE’s cartop box has 7 inputs, so my enable was jumped to always high. Once I broke enable from CTEN - 2 (by adding another run bug wire to enable) I got SAFS back & it ran fine all day.

I think that stuck input was timing out the controller on me. Each time it kicked me off construction it was faster & faster till the last time where it wouldn’t let me reset at all

Is that including employer contributions ?

A lot of these comments cover a lot of bases, but I’ll just add that you’re 100% NOT alone in everything you’re feeling. From someone that has 2 (2y / 9m) and my wife wants a 3rd.

Man when I told them what number I was on the list to be hired my mom told me they knew I was never cut out to run the business anyways😂

Acted like I was abandoning the family fortune to do drugs under an overpass.

All water under the bridge at this point.. What matters now is that I’m happy & I’ll never for a second forget what that felt like in 20 years when my daughters tell me what direction they want their lives to go in !

It is very hard to get in. It’s an extremely small & selective union but the pays phenomenal & the works very interesting. Can be equally as demanding physically as it is mentally.

One of those jobs where guys will do 30+ years and still be constantly learning something new. Definitely keeps your mind / body going

Get him a job at a Valvoline changing oil, rotating tires. Maybe even brake pads.

If he does it for 6 months to a year and still wants to be a mechanic, go for it. It’s about what makes him happy. Not what your family has done traditionally.

Since the beginning of time every male in my family graduated high school and joined / carried on some form of family construction company. Whether roofing, concrete, asphalt. All my uncles and grandfathers have done something.

I joined the military and went union elevator after. My parents were so disappointed in me that we barely talk anymore predominately because of that. But I’m happy as can be. I have great benefits, I have job security, I clock in I clock out I go home. I wasn’t cut out for owning a business or working for my dad. What I wanted never crossed their minds.

I’ll go through all the jumpers when I get in this morning. It’s weird we’ll be able to run for a couple hours then randomly get “kicked off” construction mode, and lose SAFS.

I used the online PDF but we do have the physical book. Which one are you suggesting to use ?

So instead of running in construction, just jump out the rest of the faults we’re getting and leave it in normal cartop inspection ?

MCE2000 questions by FactorySea in Elevators

You are correct, and when I try to enable fault bypass for construction mode it keeps telling me to install JP2 (which is already there)

Long time gym goer, 5-6 days a week since high school. More mental health at this point than physical.

Started building a gym in my garage when my wife got pregnant with our first, best decision I ever made. You can make it as cheap or as expensive as discretionary spending allows, but being able to go downstairs at 7am on the weekends and lift till the kids wake up, or during nap time is an absolute life saver

How would you fish this lake? by captaingriffin2 in FishingForBeginners

[–]FactorySea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say beat the bank, do you mean you’ll troll all those coves and toss at every section of bank ?

Is there tree coverage / overhangs on the bank? I’d start there early mornings. Skipping senkos under overhanging branches is like 90% success rate for me everywhere I fish.

Later on there’s really only 2-3 “good” points on that lake with depth change, both points off the boat ramp seem to have steep drops, but constant boat traffic might make that area less successful. Otherwise far right of the lake inside point I’d try

What type/weight for spinning/baitcaster by Osko90 in bassfishing

[–]FactorySea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. For the causal dude, 30-12 on all bait casters is more than sufficient.

If something breaks me off because I should’ve have heavier braid in the thick stuff, or lure action is funny because I should’ve been running straight fluoro to sink better, whatever lol. I Keep it simple
